Cig Packets… Just bought a 20 deck of B+H silver today and they've started putting the pictures of body parts on them already. On mine, there's a picture of someones head and cross section of their neck with throat cancer.. and next to it in red writing it says "Smoking causes a slow and painful death" .. was pretty disgusting..
I didn't think they were gonna start doing it this soon.. I thought at least next year.. but hey =/ Apparently they've done it on Mayfair cigs aswel but I dunno.
however, I don't think it'll stop me smoking. I mean, it'll put me off buying cigarettes but I can just buy them and not look at the images.. They are pretty rank..Has anyone else seen them?
If they're gonna go to such extreme measures to stop people smoking, why don't they just ban cigarettes altogether? Well, that's not gonna stop everyone smoking.. But a fair few y'know? But they'll never do that...Instead, they'll just put disgusting images on the packets.. :you_crazy123

Fags eh? what be they all aboot ? I think that crazy dead brummie guy put it best when he said "you know, that little white stick you put in your mouth" He's dead now, but aren't we all ? You know, if you think about it. His death was "mainly due to smow-king" notice the key word there MAINLY, the advert failed to mention that he was actually shot in the head, that was the real cause of his death. Anyway, if you already smoke or are planning to get started then here's a bunch of reviews so that you can pick the right brand to commit to. I've included whether you should crash (ask for a fag) or just buy some.
Marlboro Lights - Good for beginners, a nice smooth creamy tab, rich in vitamin R and bursting with aromathayan promise. I would suggest buying these at a young age and letting time bring them close to your heart. Crashing a couple of these babies could be the best thing you ever did. Also worth a buy if you've got pocket-sense. 9/10
Regal - A good football fag, need a good footballing brain for these bastards, maybe even a rugby brain. Nothing spells competitive sport like a warm beer and a Regal. A smoother approach to the old hardcore nicotine dragger. Definitely say yes to a crash but never 2, buy them if you feel a Sports Saturday/Teletext afternoon coming on, or a pub discussion about Maxim magazine. 8/10
Dunhill - The cigarette for boxers, very similar to above but for a different brand of sport, a bouncing boy's sport. Need a good boxing brain for this particular hench of tabarettes. Old Frankie B loved to laugh, but now he's a blithering fool. That crazy bruvva smoked a pound of these a day. Some times a pound and a half if he felt the smackdown in his battleaxe. Only crash one of these cunts if you feel up for brawl or a test of might, and for god's sake don't buy them unless you box or can fake it by having a broken nose and a strange shaped head. 8/10
Lambert And Butler - Fags made from bad bits of fags. Cigarettes for bad people. They're a pub smoke in theory but it's more of a playground sneaker if you catch my breeze. Smoke them by all means, but beware, you are an idiot if you smoke them. Usually come with a hairless head and a wet coat, but don't be surprised if your nana is partial to a Lambert on a Funday afternoon, because we all know that if there was a new day created it would be called "Funday". If you've had many pints and someone you don't know offers you a fag, it WILL be a Lambert, take it and smile but by morning you'll cough up some bile. And only buy them if you made your money by threatening people. 3/10
Balmoral - "You've played the golf course now smoke the cigarette". A quote from the mighty CRUST there and how better could it have been phrased ? It couldn't. The only way I could possibly describe these fags is by scales breaching and as you all know, I don't breach the Craigs. 9/10
The Benson range. Benson and hedges also make pasta bakes!
Benson and Hedges - Could be a lung peeling sensation. I'd say for those in need of a bit of sexual healing, come see your uncle Benson, though you may get more than you bargained for. A beef roast should proceed a Benson and then a racist chat/rant, be warned you may not be old enough to smoke these - seniors only, I say...and only smoke them if you eat sunday dinner EVERY day. 5/10
Lucky Strike - A fag for real American Joes. Nothing says "good morning America" like a good old Lucky S. These babies go well with a big ol' slice of American pie. We all know the Americans SAVED OUR ASS in World War II, so why not pack one of these ASSHOLES in to your mouth and reap the benefits. Crash one or two if you've got the soul of a patriot....and If you feel like living the AMERICAN DREAM then by all means make a purchase....everything else is WACK. 8/10
Smoke at the Captain's table Paul Jones - Admirals only. If I caught a left tenant puffing blindly on a PJ smooth then I'd have to report them to the correct authorities. Even the Boson is forbidden to even think about pleasuring himself in such a way. I can't review these as I have never been an admiral and therefore never has a Paul Jones wing-tip graced my lips. These get a "GUESS OUT OF TEN" ?/10
Could I crash a tab?

DE : How i became a smoker and how i quit Written by a friend of mine from Germany who runs the Mastodon instance I use, good info about why folk start in the first place, e-cigs and dealing with addiction if you want to stop..

FDA lowering nicotine in Tobacco
So if those goes through, granted that it won't get going till 2021 or 2022, but where would one go for quality tobacco on this firmament? Which countries have the best tobacco is what I'm asking.
DK : Old man in hospital allowed outside to roof for his last smoke.. This old chap had all sorts of bad things wrong with his heart and only about 2 hours left anyway; the nurses even hauled his hospital bed on to the balcony (as just like anywhere else in Europe its illegal to smoke inside the hospital..)

UK : What our new cigarette packs now look like At least Lucky Strike is available in the UK again, although for some reason BAT is only selling the milder ones called "flow filter" in some other countries (they have a recess in the filter, not sure why this is done but some US brands have it as well, apparently people use it to snort drugs out of as it can hold approx 100mg of powder).
At least they still have the proper "American flavour" and are cheaper than many current British brands..
FR : another issue with smoking policies.. Thankfully the lass's friend and other passengers sounded the emergency alarm, and the train stopped at the next station (they can't just stop it immediately or it would be right in the middle of a block and delay all the others unless it can be safely reversed / shunted which causes even more delays.
The baby was looked after by the train guards, collected by transport cops and handed back to its mum at the next station. it looks like she only got words of advice which is fair enough as it clearly wasn't a deliberate attempt to abandon the child - until 2000s(?) trains had smoking carriages, so this wouldn't so likely to happen.

US : MA : "Buying duty free snout in Massachusetts…" :D My sister is travelling there for work and has offered to get me a carton of cigarettes - do they have duty free shops there and if so does anyone know the rough prices and what brands they sell? I did try and look at the only versions of the shops but they ask for your flight details!
I understand that Lucky Strike Filters are not sold in USA any more (BAT actually make them in Germany, Hungary and other European nations) - only the unfiltered which can be expensive and hard to get in some states and a carton of them is likely to be much worse for my insides. Do they still have Camel filters and are they still called that? (according to kids on redditt there are about 5 different types of Camel still sold in USA, in UK we only get the light ones and they cost around $14 a pack!)
*Snout == British slang for cigarettes and tobacco, especially amongst older generations in London and SE Engand and those who might have once been to jail or regularly encounter people who have)
DE : New packaging appearing in Germany My sister (who has been working in DE this week) called me from the airport to see what cigs I wanted her to bring back (these are a gift so 100% legit) as she was having difficulty locating the Luckies.
At first I feared that the EU laws had caused BAT to stop making them as they do have some flavouring/additives (which is where their distinctive taste comes from) but they were still there; what has happened is the rough pictures on cig packets are now made so large even in the rest of EU other than IE and FR which have gone to full plain packaging they now look like this
there are 42 new pics with even more unpleasant pictures of various things that can go wrong with human body and also this aimed at young couples. to be fair both might have some truth although they don't bother me (I'm single and the very last thing I'd want to be dealing with with at this stage in my life is becoming a Dad!) but I couldn't help but think - "this is the 21st century; we've had health and sex education in Europe for 35 years. FFS What sort of spiteful cow lights up a cigarette indoors next to her friends young child in the first place and then sits in Angst that she cannot conceive one of her own; and why does the young mum keep friends like that in the first place?"
PS: in the UK you will now get the harsh pictures and the blanco packaging (in fact a nasty green colour) with standard font - I'm glad I'm not working on a tobacco kiosk these days as even with barcode scanners stock location is going to be a nightmare.

MX : ¿ Qué ? Saw these pictures online; at first I thought it was some joke sticker but apparently its a real warning from the Mexican Health Ministry!
here in England I can't afford to smoke these myself (£10 a pack now from many shops) let alone share them with rodents :laugh_at:

truth about "radioactive" cigarettes? I saw a few years ago various videos claiming that some cigarettes were "radioactive" because sections glowed under a black light (filtered UV light that is not harmful to look at with the naked eye) whereas others did not.
Fluorescence is often confused with radioactivity due to the use of phosphorescent materials based on tritium in watch dials etc that do contain a small amount of radioactive material. These things glow in a similar fashion to some objects placed under the black light - but it is not a detector of radioactivity. To confuse matters further many scientists do use UV-fluorescent material as a marker in place of radioactive substances as its safer!
I had to hand a blacklight CFL in a desk lamp fitting and remembered to save the last cigarette from a packet of a different brand so I had two types to compare - top is JPS Black (Imperial Tobacco) and bottom is Rothmans Royals Red (BAT).
Both have the glowing sections around roughly the same parts of the cig - I suspect that they are likely to be whatever chemical is put in the cigarette papers to try and prevent fires being set by an unattended cigarette (if it was some additive in the tobacco roll then surely the whole of the cigarette would glow?).
Would be interesting to see what the smokers in other countries see (even before the trend towards "additive free" brands British cigarettes have traditionally contained more Virginia tobacco and less additives than those smoked overseas)

DE :What are decent cigarettes to buy duty free? My younger sister is travelling to Germany for work; so she can buy 800 cigarettes. [ way cheaper there] she smokes Marlboro Gold but these I find these are not strong enough for me and
thus you end up smoking more.
A carton of 200e should last me a few weeks (leaving 200 for my brother in law and 400 for my sister. What are decent brands to get? I had a look online and the there are all sorts I have never heard of.
Lucky Strike seems to be availble there but there are all different kinds now,. Are the red ones the same as they were back in the day?
UK / FR / IE : Plain packs for cigarettes starting from May 2016 It is extremely rare for me to agree with spin from large corporates marketing departments (though to be fair BAT's websites are surprisingly open and transparent about the risks of what they sell and even the exact contents) and even less so for me to agree with anyone from UKIP - but this IMO is equally flawed as the Psychoactive Substances Act.
Tobacco advertising in Europe has been restricted for around 20 years already; for some years cigarettes and tobacco are only sold in the corner of a large supermarket and kept behind locked shutters and yet many young people (including those of above average intelligence) still smoke; although this doesn't surprise me as other than caffeine, nicotine is now the only stimulant permitted or just about socially accepted during the working day.
Coincidentally many NPS from better vendors have been sold in blanco packs (other than very basic branding) for some considerable time.
