Battlefield 3 Oh my WORD!!!!
BF2 was epic beyond belief and this has finally picked up the torch again. Forget the "BF bad company" rubbish that didn't even come close. This is real Battlefield.
I don't usually get this geeky and excited over games anymore, but I literally cannot wait!

With what console / PC / Other computer did gaming peak for you ??? With what console / PC / Other computer did gaming peak for you ???
Wondering is it the platform, the game, or the age of the player that defines when gaming hit it's peak
Ive had many platforms & games in my time, some better than others
Prinzatronic Tournament Console - In the attic, probably a collectors item by now
Spectrum 48k - In the attic, worthless now but cant bring myself to dispose of it
NES - Sold or given away dont remember or care
SNES - Sold or given away dont remember or care
MegaDrive - Sold or given away dont remember or care
PC - Many upgrades over the years guess I will always have one but no longer used for gaming
PS1 - Great in it's day, traded in when PS2 bought
PS2 - Still hooked up but only used as a DVD player nowadays thought still have many PS1+2 games
PS3 - Still hooked up, the newest, the most expensive and the least used
For me I recon I spent the most time playing and got the most enjoyment from.............. Sinclair Spectrum 48k
Did gaming really peak in the 80s, when it still amazed instead of being expected, when it was addictive, when you could copy games off your mates with a double-tapedeck and had to wait with eager anticipation for them to load ( or not sometimes ) ???? Or is this just nostalgia lol12

World of Warcraft – Vanilla My younger brother brought to my attention Nostalrius released a exact replica of world of Warcraft when it began. I am very excited to hear this as I was a die hard fan of the classic WoW. There is a few busy servers the PvP ones are becoming quite crowded and the game is free! Take a look!

Any Wii U / Battlefield 4 players out there? Hello gamers!
Just wanted to hear if anyone out there is playing Wii U like I am? I mainly play MK8, SSB, 3D World. I also play Battlefield 4 on PC.
If anyone is interested in playing sometimes, send me a PM so we can share Nintendo/Origin ID's!
UK : Games and class A young woman from the housing co-op mentioned this blog in her tweets. I wasn't entirely surprised by the subject -its a good thing that younger people in the UK are considering the political/cultural implications of their computer games; but hadn't expected the articles below to also have been in the Morning Star (UK socialist newspaper)!
Last time I had read this (about 1999) I thought it was written by some middle aged journos who, if they had computers at all, would more likely still be using something like a shared CP/M system built out of hoarded components and some assistance from Germany and Denmark; and no one under 50 wrote for this paper (or read it!)
It does appear the blog writer was a subeditor for them until recently and has had these articles published, whether he still writes for them is unclear. The rest of the Morning Star which I looked at for old times sake does still read like it was written by half of your schoolteachers from the 1980s - the arts/footy sections are behind a paywall - which at least gave me a laugh (and it is not full with trackers like the Grauniad or requires you to log in like De Volkskrant). I did find his articles eventually but the way they are laid out (which makes sense for dead tree newspapers) gets him mixed up with lots of other reporters. I can half understand why left wing organisations would do this but it makes an interesting article much harder to find online....
At least they have let Simon keep his copyright and the independent blog.

What game did you finish most recently? Thought this would be a fun idea for a thread. List the game (or games) you finished most recently, and give a BRIEF (one paragraph) review!
I finished RAGE yesterday.
I'd give it a 7.5/10.
Absolutely breathtaking visuals on max settings. Some minor screen tearing in places but nothing too distracting. I however was disapointed by the ease of the game even on hard difficulty (the game has a built in "defibrilator" that essentially takes all the challenge out of the game), as well as the incredibly poor story, which I felt had great potential. Still, a fun, 9-10 hour corridor shooter for ID considering it goes on sale for $5.00 from time to time.
Games that were released in a bad state but later patched to respectibility I'm talking games that were broken or almost broken when they came out, and you won't find a good score on them in any review anywhere, but through official or unofficial patches has become a good game.
Kind of like might and magic 9, which I guess was released is a horrible mess but now has a fan patch that supposedly makes it playable and fun? Or temple of elemental evil, which seems to have gotten remade by fans.
I'm always looking for hidden gems to play. And I assume that no one reviews games post-patch.
And You Thought it Couldn’t Get Better Than Woodcutter Simulator! From the guys that brought us Woodcutter Simulator, we now have Warehouse and Logistics Simulator (alternatively, Forklift Simulator).
http://store.steampowered.com/app/273940/?featured_app=1
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get a low skilled, low paid job in a warehouse but couldn't be bothered to go down to the job centre? Well wonder no longer as you can learn to drive a slow moving vehicle around a desolate warehouse for no particular reason! And best of all, after all this work, you don't even get paid for it!
The Hell's Warehouse DLC did make me chuckle though. It involves zombies
Seriously though, who actually buys this crap? What's next, shelf stocking simulator where you work at a supermarket? Admin simulator where you play Solitaire all day (and don't give someone their P45 back for 4 months)?
I can almost understand games like this if they were well made. Perhaps adding something with a certain amount of management to it like Euro Truck 2 did. But looking at the video, the whole area is completely devoid of any interaction.
Sealed and Secure Free indie game. A while ago I linke dyou guys to "save the date"
Well here is another intersting free little gmae that all can enjoy. Any laptop can run this game. You play the part of a local postman. Trust me guys, you will enjoy this.

[h=1]Wait A Minute, Mr. Postman: Sealed & Secure[/h]Posted by Chris Priestman Ć July 29, 2013 at 10:20 am
Do you trust me? How about your local mailman? If you said yes to both of those questions, then you should immediately go and play Sealed & Secure (download link). No, really, you donāt need to know anything more about it than it involves playing a mailman delivering the post around a small rural community. Just like Postman Pat (does the world outside the UK know of this cultural icon?).
Thatās, uh, thatās all there is to the game. Honest.
Itās lovely. You wake up at 6:15 am every day, grab the post, hop on your scooter, and then deliver it to the houses. Unfortunately, you only get to click on the ground youād like the scooter to travel to, and not actually drive it yourself, which was disappointing to me. But itās made up a little as you get to drag the mail through the postbox and hear it clang on to the floor. Yes, thatās right; REALISTIC mail-hitting-the-floor sounds. What a game!
Just to warn you, Iām going to spoil the game a little bit after the picture below, so donāt say I didnāt warn you. This is definitely a game you need to play without knowing anything about it.
Donāt you just love games that surprise you? Iām glad that theyāre able to keep doing it. And Iām surprised that more games donāt mask as being something simple, and then morphing into a different type of game over time. Itās worked before, and it continues to do so. In this case, weāre a simple mailman doing our job, UNTIL we get home after that first long day of work to find a package at our door that teaches us about the potentials of being a mailman.

āIf youāve ever wanted to deliver the mail in a small rural town, then this is the game for you!
Play through approximately ten days as the postman in Lawrence, BC.ā

The next morning, as you go to hop on your scooter, you notice thereās another option next to āDeliver.ā Itās āOpen.ā Oh, thatās a bit naughty, isnāt it, opening the mail of your customers? But who would know? You could probably get away with a bit of snooping. You live a boring life, and this is some mild excitement for you to look forward to every morning! So you end up in the kitchen, boil some water in a pot, and then steam the letters open and get to reading. At first, things seem a little boring, but trust me; a narrative starts to emerge, and it takes some unexpected twists and turns that sees the community change over the ten days the game spans across.
I would have loved to have seen more ways to interact with the events that happened over the week, such as burning letters so they donāt get delivered, and then observing as this changes the outcome, or doesnāt! But whatās there currently is ample enough for the SA GameDev VIII competition, at least. Some further development after the competition is over would certainly be of interest. It gets a little creepy; you may even worry for the mailmanās safety, but all is revealed at the end. But, unfortunately, the ending seemed like a bit of an obvious cop-out to mem nearly as bad as it āall being a dream.ā The journey was great, though. And I love that the game is more than what it initially seemed to be.
