It called for shops that sell cigarettes to be licensed in a similar way to those that sell alcohol.
The Republic of Ireland will outlaw the sale of ten-cigarette packs from the end of May.

i think they should be sold one by one, in rubix cubes. hahahahaharaaa
:you_crazy :you_crazy :you_crazy
do they think that making cigarettes only in packs of 20 will cut down the number of smokers or something?
i don’t really like the way smoking is becoming more… under scrutiny. i mean, i can’t really defend it, as it is very damaging to health, but then there is that side of me which thinks if i want to smoke, i should bloody well be able to…
i dunno. confusing issue. the government gets sooo much money from booze+fags taxation, so why the fuck do they wanna make them harder to buy?
ironically I suspect this will happen anyway, but for security rather than health reasons – because of spiralling taxes, cigarettes are becoming more and more expensive – they have always been a commodity worth stealing, but even more so these days.
you no longer get cigarette vending machines on the street in this country (I think they were stopped long before I was born!) – not because of health concerns, but because they would get robbed.
got robbed by a fag machine once, 5.20 for 16 B+H! the fucking liberty
lol
£6 for 16 malboro golds round ‘ere.
Don’t go on holiday to Weston-super-Mare then, if they see u smoking Marlboros , randoms will swoop down on you and ask you for a spare one. I bought one pack and ended up giving a quarter of it away ffs, it doesn’t happen in Birmingham.

Government should increase the tax payment of this sector because import is growing higher. this tobacco product is really cause for serious impact in our country.
so please do something to save our country from tobacco.

but where is “your country?” On this site everyone is international. There is nothing wrong with being patriotic about your country within reason, and wanting people to be fit and healthy, but cultures and government are different around the world.
Your name makes me think of a leopard – which may be common around where you live. Although I quit cigarettes in 2009, I would be have been even more likely to quit if there are leopards about, as they can run as fast as 59 km/h, so if you are not fit and sharp minded you may even get eaten.
It is common for us Asians , especially young men, to take up smoking cigarettes. In my ancestors country of Malaysia, they used to joke that a “Chinaman is born with a cigarette in one hand, and a camera in the other”. This wasn’t untrue for many generations, but one reason I quit cigs was because of the high tax, and that by not buying these I could afford another Japanese compact camera (for when I don’t have the time or space to use my DSLR).
