Does anyone know anything interesting about Cannabis ruderalis?
It is the Russian/European strain that grows by roadsides (hence the name ruderalis) etc. It is of low potency and some people even say it’s got zero THC in it.
But there are hybrids with sativa and indica around.
(there are 3 species of Cannabis – sativa, indica, and ruderalis).
Does the hybrid grow well?
Is it too late to start planting?
How long b4 it flowers (l read it flowers within 1-2 months!!!)
Does it grow by roadsides etc? Can you just drop the seeds anywhere?
I think hemp used to be grown everywhere in the UK. But what species of hemp? A lot of hemp isn’t even cannabis, it’s all these other plants, but l’m sure Cannabis used to enjoy widespread cultivation in the UK.
Yes i know a bit about it. Its been crossed with some satvia / indica breeds to produce a small 6 inch plant called Low Ryder : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lowryder
Interesting plant. From seed to harvest in 8-9 weeks. No veg state. Straight to flower. This means that unfortunatly you cant take cuttings. The upside is that they can be grown in enclosures as small as a pc case. Stealth grow!

Can you just sow ruderalis / ruderalis hybrids anywhere in the UK? I mean, along grassy verges etc.?
Im pretty sure ruderalis ‘auto flowers’, which would be why its in lowryder. It just flowers without light change.
Cannabis is a weed, it grows just about anywhere so plant away. raaa
Massive yield wiv rudaralis:love: grows quick do to the climate it is found in short summers.
what if a dog pisses on it
It’d have to be a tall dog. The same goes for any fruit / flower, l guess.
There are actually 4 types of cannabis , the fourth is called ‘rasta’ , will forward more info tommorow…………long story .
There’s something about it at http://cannabis.net/articles/rasta-cannabis.html
It doesn’t make any sense to me, it mentions “rasta” as a 3rd species, but elsewhere in the website it says there are 3 species, sativa, indica and ruderalis.
It goes on about how someone discovered it in a lab. Sounds like a variety not a species, but l’m sure they know the difference between variety and species …
The website has some HILARIOUS posters by the way, go to: http://cannabis.net/thc/cannabisvice.html and click on each poster to take you to the next poster.
Quote from one of the posters:
“In Florida, police found a youth staggering about in a human slaughterhouse. With an ax he had killed his father, mother, two brothers, and a sister. He had no recollection of having committed this multiple crime. Ordinarily a sane, rather quiet young man, he had become crazed from smoking marijuana.”
I’m guessing the boy already had deep resentments towards his family before ever lighting his reefer, and an exceptionally poor memory. Either that or someone had spiked his reefer with PCP.
Errrrm, l heard injecting it clogs up your veins with twigs! Why didn’t they just show some fat geezer shooting up on the loo.
There are 3 species of Cannabis – Indica (meaning ‘from India’) Sativa (meaning ‘cultivated’) and Ruderalis (meaning ‘in waste places’ due to its tendency to prefer broken, rocky ground and scrubby areas between eastern European forested areas). That said, there are thousands of varieties / hybrids of Cannabis because all three species can interbreed successfully. There is some discussion about the reclassification of Afghan strains to that of C. Afghanicus due to that strain’s particular deviation from commonly held characteristics.
Ruderalis on its own doesn’t have much of the desirable THC / CBD / CBN oils that make Sativa or Indica so popular, but its trait of autoflowering has made it of interest to breeders (most especially in the northern hemisphere) due to the limited available outdoor grow period and repressive drug laws. Some hybrid Ruderalis x Indica x Sativa strains have come up viable and produce bud from the start of the plant’s life, albeit with a low-growing form, something that is being progressively bred out in order to produce taller plants with bigger bud yield while still retaining the autoflower trait.
Having a low and scrambling form makes Ruderalis easy to disguise, whilst the plants’ capacity for growth in low levels of direct sunlight make it handy for northern hemisphere conditions.
And there endeth that little nugget of info.
yeah,it’s all over the place and man this shit grows big
it’s used in the rope industry
to get high u have to make tea of it or a milky way(very low THC in it)
it’s still ilegal:you_crazy
have a mate who has done some time for this shit 🙁
Don’t grow ruderalis. You will be sorely dissapointed. It takes just as much effort to grow it in the UK as some of the strains bred for outdoor growing but its nowhere near as potent.
If your growing outdoor stealth is the key. There is no point planting on any old grassy verge as odds are either the locals will rip it off ages before its ready or the fuzz will be alerted and wait for you to come check on it before nabbing you.
If you do want to grow outdoors this summer you will need something that will finish quickly. As Sdz mentioned lowryder is an option but its pretty shit tbh, minmum yield and low potency but it smells nice. I would suggest going for one of the Mdanzig lowryder crosses….although the seeds are hard to come by from a trustworthy seedbank.
Anyhow if you haven’t put any thought in to the site or preparing the ground I’d suggest waiting til next summer. No point spending a load of money then having your crop succumb to mould before its ready to smoke.
Cannabis rasta is a sub species. Its cannabis sativa rasta. So its a type of sativa commonly found in the west indies and jamaica.
