Drugs probe as clubber dies

And the body of a 29-year-old man has been found at a disused mill in the city in what is also believed to be a drugs-related death.
The 19-year-old man, who has not been named by police, was taken ill early yesterday at an all-night club called The Studio at Harber Mill in Thornton Road.
He was taken by ambulance to Bradford Royal Infirmary where he died at lunchtime.
Two other teenagers were also taken to hospital after suffering adverse reactions to illicit substances, said police.
An 18-year-old Shipley man and a 19-year-old Huddersfield were both still detained at BRI today.
A police spokesman said both teenagers were under observation but their condition was not described as life-threatening.
A man and a woman have been arrested and were today being questioned in connection with the incident.
Last night two Police Community Support Officers stood guard outside the club premises, located at a five-storey mill at the junction with Preston Street. The windows at the mill are covered with large yellow boards and no external signs advertise that it is a nightclub.
Detective Inspector Steve Hopwood, of Bradford South CID, confirmed that police were investigating whether the teenager’s death, who is understood to be from Huddersfield, was drugs-related.
He said: “The man was taken to BRI yesterday morning and sadly died later.
“The circumstances are tragic and the police are investigating the surrounding causes.”
An entertainments licence between 10pm to 6am for the premises were approved by Bradford Council’s Licensing Panel in December 2002. The applicant was Alan Briggs, who at the time was running a printing company called Blueprint at the mill.
It is not known whether Mr Briggs is still associated with the nightclub.
Meanwhile, police are also investigating the unrelated death of the second man whose body was found on Saturday morning in a mill in Vincent Street, off Sunbridge Road, Bradford.
A police spokesman said the mill, which is burned out and has smashed windows, was known to be regularly used by drug users and prostitutes.
Det Insp Hopwood said: “We are taking professional advice with regards to these deaths and at this stage we can’t confirm the causes.”
The Bradford Coroner has been informed and post-mortem examinations were due to take place today to ascertain the cause of both deaths.
Inquests into both cases will be held on dates to be fixed.
