  • As it seems that Salvia has caught the attention of the media, could this mean it will be banned soon?

This description of the effects of digesting the plant salvia divinorum sounds like a parody of 1960s mind-expanding hippies. But it is not untypical of a curious YouTube-centred subculture.

Mexican shamans have been using the plant as part of religious rite for thousands of years, but it is now one of a range of “legal highs” sold on both sides of the Atlantic.

Smoked, the effect can be intense but last as little as 10 minutes, while chewing it creates a longer period under the influence. Its defenders say it is neither toxic or addictive, but legislators have been concerned enough for it to be banned in Australia, a number of European nations and a handful of US states.

Users can experience uncontrolled laughter, a temporary inability to speak, dramatic visual and auditory hallucinations, uncoordinated movement, a feeling of being out of the body and a wide range of other unsettling phenomena.

I never got round to smoking salvia. Whats it like?

a while back i ordered the 60x extract off the internet and it was quite intense but not very enjoyable. i felt as if i were a zipper of a jacket and i was being zipped up. also gave me a pretty bad cold sweat..

i tried salvia x15 i did a bucket hit twice, lost balance and managed to tip a bucket of water onto my bedroom floor, i was “far out” and put on some music but that had no effect, but i still trip out when looking at the display on my stereo.

i thought i was never going to come down it made me ask myself why i was doing this to myself and since then i havent touched any other drugs the come down lasted ages and i was still experiencing altered perception for weeks afterwards
