I think it may not have even been the friends being harsh or unfeeling but some people genuinely don’t think that you can OD on party drugs…. overdoses are associated more with smack and crack
with prices and availability dropping this is sadly a bigger risk these days
I can see how a group of users may have thought “nah, he’s just a bit ill”
if you call nines there is at least 5-20 minutes to stash things and remove any evidence of drug use should the cops turn up (and they usually don’t unless you and your mates and the house they are in have a reputation for violence and crime)
doing a whole gram of MD to yourself is greedy though and this lad paid the ultimate price
A relative works for the emergency dept at a SE England hospital and he often has to deal with greedy youths ending up in similar states. Some live, some don’t.
A 15-year-old girl was the only person to call for help after a man died of a drugs overdose, an inquest has heard.
Peter Cunningham, 24, was sweating, sick and collapsed on the sofa at his friend’s house in Poole, Dorset, after taking about 1g (0.03oz) of MDMA.
Friend Darren Neate told his inquest he left him for three hours to “sleep it off”. The alarm was only raised when Mr Neate’s teenage daughter dialled 999.
The coroner recorded a verdict of death by drug abuse.
Mr Cunningham was watching television with a group of friends as they drank alcohol, took MDMA and did lines of ketamine in the kitchen in December 2007, the inquest heard.
Two jailed
Mr Neate’s daughter and her 12-year-old brother were also in the room when Mr Cunningham collapsed.
By the time help arrived he was unconscious and could not be roused.
A post-mortem examination showed the cause of death was ecstasy intoxication.
Coroner Sheriff Payne said on Tuesday: “He deliberately wanted to take a large quantity of drugs that evening. The reason for that we cannot explain.”
All five adults at the house were initially arrested with Judy Short and Leigh Ward jailed at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday.
Short was sentenced to nine months after admitting one count of supplying class A drugs, one count of possessing class A, and one count of supplying class C.
Ward was jailed for six months after admitting one count of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

As sad as that is and my condolences go out to his family. Was his death directly attributed to the party drugs or did he die from choking on his own vomit? Either way it still yields the same result but there is a world of difference from ODing on drugs and choking to death.
another report here claims his friends warned him against taking so much (by any standards this is asking for trouble)

usually the coroner or NHS would have mentioned this, although from personal experience if you are going to be ill on stimulant drugs and/or K its something you do once whilst at least semi-concious until you have puked up everything down to the bile… :yakk: rather than whilst sparko (which is what causes people to inhale their vomit)
this sounds far worse, as if the mans internal organs just failed…
Sad news,
But come on if your retarded enough to take a gram in one go of course your gonna get fucking ill…. its a bit obvious!
Yeah didn’t see that bit. Dissolving a gram of mandy in water just so he could get wrecked. Now that’s fucking silly and now he’s paid the ultimate price. I can’t help but think he knew what would happen. Maybe he meant to kill himself by over using?
Just hope his death wasn’t in vain and serves as a warning to others.
possibly.
I think sometimes there is a phenomenon of “suicide by deliberate negligence”.
Its not so much that someone definitely wants to kill themselves there and then, but their life isn’t going as well as they want it to so they don’t really care if they live or die.
intstead of an outright suicide attempt they indulge in a escalating pattern of risky behaviour until either they do end their lives or their life improves to the point they feel its worth preserving it.
I’ve could have died several times over doing cocktails of party drugs and alcohol.
I think the scariest thing for me was the thought that no one was really aware of the state i was in.
I dont think people at parties look after each other very well.
hardly suprising when you consider the state we all get in.
we’re alll so used to seeing people lying on the ground in k holes at parties now, its just normal for there to be people paralysied on the ground in various places, i wonder how many people would look twice…
exactly, and most people in that state don’t really want a bunch of randoms trying to rouse them or worse, being bodily lifted from the rave into one of the NHS’s finest Emergency Ambulances and waking up in a hospital miles away from the party when their mates have doubtless fucked off and gone home.
Nor does the NHS really want to be using up their resources for such a pointless exercise nor should they
I know this sounds harsh (and I’ve got into rare states myself) but I think its the individuals own responsibility and risk, not anyone elses – and when normal people do risky stuff like sports or motor racing they supply or pay for their own emergency medical resources.
Thankfully at most raves there is usually at least one person who has medical or veterinary training (a vet nurse for large animals can easily treat humans :laugh_at:)
I still think matey in this case. either wanted to top himself or didn’t care if he died though..
sad news. i know people should look out for each other, but people need to start looking out for themselves for fucks sake. some people just dont seem to have any common sense.
Fair play there may be other factors in this case, but so many times you see people on a mission to get as fucked up as possible, which is alright up to a point, but people need to be sensible and learn their limits imo.
looking at the amounts I find it a bit worrying that this would actually kill – I mean a gram is a lot to do at once with other stuff but quite often I’ve done near enough those kinda quantities of the same drugs, with others too without thinking I would overdose, have seen plenty of people do a lot more…makes you think…
from here (dont worry, this site is not the real feds )

The single-dose LD50 in humans can only be guessed at, but may be on the order of 10-20 mg/kg (oral.)
Assuming a human is 70kg (average weight) and these figures are accurate this would mean 700mg – 1.05g of pure MDMA would kill 50% of humans
Of couse doing actual LD50 experiments on humans is illegal and/or discouraged in most jurisdictions, so I expect they were averaged out over a number of coroners’ reports worldwide

:hopeless: quite worrying, I regularly see people do between half g to a g of MDMA, I don’t normally do more than a half myself but I see people munch over 2 grams over a weekend, I suppose the 50% of humans aren’t hardened druggies lol but still it can’t be good
yeah it is definatly worrying. at shambala a few years ago i did pretty much the same as this. i asked for a bit of md off of my mate and he just poured the rest of what he had left over into my hand saying he didnt want it anymore, i didnt have anywhere to put so just thought fuck it and necked the lot. so lucky i didnt end up like this guy. i was in a proper state.
The LD50 is usually calculated on a single dose, not spread out across a nights or weekends partying. I’ve seen people do half gram bombs though and get themselves into rare old states – not enough to kill them outright but it does stress the body
I’ve got friends 10-15 years my junior who seem to be in worse health :hopeless:
