As you said it doesn’t get sold at raves or encouraged there.
what happens is it gets used as a comedown drug when people are back home, maybe at afterparties or feeling depressed from doing too many stimulants, and its a slippery slope from there.
also at least some of the dealers down south, just above the chain where most of us get drugs from do bring in heroin as well as pills/speed etc as its a guaranteed earner. they tend not to “push” it as such openly but it is there. bear in mind a lot of firms are run by “hard men” type dudes what don’t actually take that many drugs but enjoy the buzz of “beating the law” which can be a addiction in itself.
since 1991 when I started raving, I would say a third of my raving mates from back in the day have had issues with heroin addiction. Some got heavily into dealing and I even saw old classmates on a list of people on a crime news report what had all been busted for serious dealing (including associated violence).
Even with my newer younger friends from Suffolk at least a handful of the wider rave crowd have got into heroin and doing it regularly 😥 – its less than in the 1990s as people are learning but its still painful to see fresh faced youths making the same mistakes and fucking themselves over in this manner.
