according to threads on partyflock (a site like this but in Dutch) there were some pills in NL around 2006 with MDMA. One post points out MDA was discovered before MDMA. I think it may appear if the MDMA reaction is done wrongly or not monitored corectly (but I am not a expert chemist)

A German site also writes “Warnung -Böse pillen” (Böse means unpleasant or even evil)

A Dutch advice site says (in confirmation to what we have found here)

lol even I didn’t think that – although I agree with you about the speakers.

When I read something in a different language than Englsih I switch to thinking in the language itself, though I expect a German would find it funny. I have a lot of respect for them (and the Dutch) when it comes to sound and electronic engineering though which is why I try and learn their languages, as there is a lot of useful info in Dutch and German – whilst they do usually speak English not everything is translated…

UK pills in the early 1990s were a mixture of MDMA/MDA and afmetamine in varying proportions, depending on what was avaIlable. They were good, but the comedowns and were far worse and also risk of fatal overdose, particularly for those with pre-existing medical conditions (which do not always present with a normal lifestyle).

After leaving Uni I returned to Reading (40 miles West of London), where by then the party scene was in full swing. This was early 1992.

By the end of 1992, I’d already lost one of my ex-girlfriends to a fatal overdose. Another cute girl I quite liked disappeared, I later learned she had been sectioned to the mental hospital.

A number of my male friends either went down the same route (one after sparking an armed police siege when there was only one armed vehicle in TVP), some had regular arguments with their parents resulting in physical violence and cops being called and referrals as outpatients to mental health units. Others, as pills were relatively expensive then £15 a time got into a culture of hustling and thieving to get drugs, which started off as shoplifting but escalated into house burglary and burglary of small businesses – they were caught, and went to prison. Other more stubborn ones turned to dealing and got into dealing other Class A’s as well and got nicked both in England and abroad.

This was in a small, affluent suburb outside Reading, which otherwise was very quiet and crime free. The moral panic it caused led to widespread raids on every night time venue by January 1993 and it was months, maybe a year before any dance events were tolerated – I remember we used to go to London most of the time as there was nothing in town and when dance events came back they were a lot more low key as was the dealing and the strength of pills had dropped.

In hindsight I dread to think of the impact we caused on that area. I even feel a bit sorry for the two coppers out of the three local ones – one was a complete arsehole and tried to fit people up etc (somewhat ironically he got invalided out of the force on mental health grounds!) but the other two were actually OK and they must have had to deal with loads of frantic parents wondering WTF had happened to their kids.
