ugh. sounds rank and for a old former speed freak like me to say that really is something.
bear in mind though all these “new” RC’s are not in fact new; they often are things big European pharm companies spent fuckloads of money on researching back in the day (until the 1970s) but lunched out the patents/copyrights to because the drugs had excessive side effects after human trials, in comparison to the existing analogues – which did get indicated for human use but also controlled due to both concerns over diversion/misuse from Europes public health organisations and political pressure from Washington. Big pharm companies don’t do that unless the news really is bad. A lot of this happened even before I was born or was only a small boy.
In recent times a lot of brainy Chinese who understand both Chinese and one or more European languages have been unearthing this long forgotten info and making production quantities of the RCs
Where Chinese have an advantage is kids making a big lab with loads of computers and science kit with their mates aren’t bullied for being “nerdy” (especially when they share the results with friends) and more importantly aren’t scrutinised by local and foreign feds as potential bomb makers, so they tend to get away with this kind of thing even easier than someone in another nation, even if the folk there are smart.
in most countries if you try to get certain equipment for genuine science experiments the feds are to your door thinking you are planning to make a bomb, and thats irrespective of your race, religion, personal politics and that of your friends (as sadly there is a long standing culture of using IEDs to settle even normal domestic/criminal disputes worldwide and their use is increasing). the Chinese in urban/suburban areas are well off, middle class, they are allowed stuff like raves and small time drug use as much as or more than we are in Blighty, so they are more interested in blowing minds than blowing shit up.
But often the “differerent” bit what makes a RC legal is slightly more toxic to the human body. Not enough to usually be lethal but enough to be unpleasant, and the Chinese already have a habit of burying bad news as it is as do hedonistic western drug users, before you get to other language / cultural barriers.
