Its hard to explain or fathom out unless you live in this area but people are way more stubborn and opinionated about being pro or anti drugs than somewhere like London. its not because they are stupid or bigoted or bumpkins either, they form their judgements from their own experiences and seeing friends or even offspring suffer from the bad effects of drug use and no one wants to “give in to criminals”.

That description would be accurate for about 50% of all the dads of over 50 in East Anglia. OK not all of them have won sports tournaments but a lot of them worked in heavy industry, played hard as well and are are still physically fit not afraid of taking matters into their own hands physically even if advanced in age. Norwich Prison is full of oldies as it is but they are getting a increasing number of men from their 50s/60s upwards who commit a serious violent crime for the first time in their lives to the point they are having capacity problems. Also as far as family values go here its not unlike Pakistan or Bangladesh, both the good and bad aspects.

Actually before it got locked off my local had a fair few of them and there are fuckloads in the bumpkin areas, you can tell by the crime maps especially if you monitor the domestics and random murders. They quitr often get hauled in for nasty cold cases like rapes of young girls and kids going missing too.

Mind you theres probably more here because theres a lot of prisons in Suffolk and Norfolk and criminals from East London/South Essex also get sent to them and rehomed around here after they’ve done their time . Often they are bitter old men by then with little to lose from going in again.

its also a big reason behind the zero tolerance on nightlife because the increasingly trhe younger folk won’t be intimidated by them and both sides are willing to fight their corners – folk get hurt and the cops have to sort things out.

All that said, Ipswich is actually a relatively safe town if you keep your head down and don’t interact with people unnecessarily.
