Most of the old school know me well on this forum and i’m 19 years into using Heroin and methadone.
I’ve seen a massive increase in people using the drug over the last 10 years and have no idea why.
Is it because its more readily available? Is it because its cheaper than pot?
What happens when we have a drought and all you can buy is “squidgy ink” (Bunk made to look like smack but is a mix of sleepers causing you to lose time) do people suddenly stop? Or what about the warnings of anthrax in the gear, does this stop you using or do you carry on regardless?
thoughts please

well as you know I moved 150 miles only to see exactly the same happening or worse in these ends – my theory is its always been a simmering problem in the UK since the 1970s but more recently is related to Britain’s stubborn zero tolerance clampdown on the dance music scene
rather than tolerate it and socially engineer the scene so its “cleaned up” a bit including the drugs tolerated at the events, its balkanised into shitty poor areas and events made more expensive to put on or near impossible..
This which pushes folk into doing illegal events and/or bankrolling them by drugs sales – not smack but party drugs (although their higher up suppliers might bring in both).
this means even if kids don’t go straight to smack they binge on party drugs, burn out quick and opiates are often firstly used as a way of coping with harsh comedowns from pills and other amfetamine type stimulants…
our overcomplicated classifications system also makes things far worse in comparison to other countries…
Hi GL, long time no speak, good to be back on the forum again ( you have to thank Dafty for that)
This comment is not a racial slur in anyway but i notice more immigrants and Asians (Pakistani) selling the stuff and bringing it into the country than anyone else. Even in Amsterdam, the same pattern I see regularly.
Sure you see the occasional white male selling who would be a giro junky but surely the UK’s multi-culturalism has helped increase the market with the aid of the army bringing the stuff in from Afghan
Again not a racial thing, a mere observation.
Whatever the reasons for people taking heroin its an excuse to block out bad things in peoples lives, a coping mechanism.
Can we blame our parents for not educating us and programming us at an early age or is it the individual who makes the choice as a result of said program written into the young mind of the soon to be heroin addict?
I disagree. Drugs are a coping mechanism for blocking out the unwanted.
Sure in our friends circumstances its down to the burnout effect…but have you looked into the person to find out why they turned to it in the first place?
I dont think a majority become addicts so they can have an easier comedown thats all.
Perhaps in our mutual friends cases yes…but what about now too?
I think thats also a big factor but again clampdowns on the fun things in life have affected it. In the 90s Major’s lot noticed that young British Asians were getting into cannabis and pills and told their parents to get them back into stricter religion with obvious results.
Plus for at least some of those doing it must be a good way of getting revenge back at the West and taking power back rather than becoming a suicide bomber (which they can of course only do once!). Though round here the dealers are mostly white and often old enough to be my parents, but its a coastal area so this has been going on for ages.
Also the unwanted thing that a lot of people are blocking out is that life is shit and boring unless you have a decent job and even then for young people today its mediocre compared to the 80s or 90s, I realised this when speaking to younger folk who think you’ve grown up in some golden era (though to be fair things genuinely did seem a lot more fun/optimistic in the 90s). In my town even amongst kids what don’t do drugs the suicide rate and rate in mental health problems has gone through the roof..
Where have you been all this time? It’s great to have you back on here…

i find skag dealers to always have ten bags and be available for business most hours of the day and will sort out even a tenz no problem. they text you non-stop and if they run out it’s never for long…
i’m not really sure why it’s getting more popular or if it even is…

comes with the territory, Thames Valley and the South and Eastern coasts are Britain’s “golden triangle” …
I only really see black/asian people in the heroin trade as well… see the odd white addict doing small time dealing for their habit.

round your way and in London as well as Northern cities thats normal. it was like that when I lived in Reading (hence why TVP were always on my fucking case, they were convinced for many years I was a dealer).
But most dealers at all levels here are white and many are old enough to be my parents (60+). the last two I saw in the papers I initially genuinely thought were absconders from a medium secure unit for the old folk with dementia and I nearly flagged their pictures to colleagues at work. they were only in their late 50s/early 60s too, clearly that sort of lifestyle isn’t good for you.
The minorities round here are much more closely watched due to Border Force and local cops and keep their noses clean. Most have successful businesses or work for British Telecom and similar places and you don’t even see them in the news unless its things like having a mela or making a new kind of curry (yes, that is news here, the locals here (irrespective of ethnicity) are like labrador dogs when it comes to food) – if Asians do crime here they’ve usually come from “Londonistan” rather than the locals. (recently Abu Hazma’s son was nicked for robbing a jewellers in Lynn.)
A lot of people i know who use brown (as in addiction) are using it to escape,
they are not ‘recreational’ users who think they can stop or not use when they want..
they have either gone in to recreational use of substances but ended up pretty much straight in to daily use of brown or started with crack and used brown to come down and ended up with a nice little habit
I think people use substances for all sorts of reasons, but I think (and I may not be right) but when you are physically addicted to summat whether it be illegal substances or alcohol and you are needing to use it each and every day to function – it is usually because you are getting something from it – be it numbness or escapism = who am I to say?
but millions of people use substances every weekend but dont need them to get up each morning – so to say ‘its for fun’ doesnt really rock it for me….
but i may be wrong…
most of my friends or family members who use substances daily are pretty fucked up in some way – I am guessing heroin doesnt have such a ‘fear’ factor as it did when I was growing up = been offered it – never done it (have used prescribed opiates and enjoyed them ) – but i saw my female friends prostituting themselves for it at 15-16 etc stripping 17-18 and skag whores 20+ and then in and out of rehab – getting their kids removed as they were damaging them so much with their substance use and ‘putting them at risk with their acquaintances’ dirty needles / substances not hidden well enough in the house / emotional neglect as they was nodding too much to look after the kids etc
not for me
I’m not saying alcohol is any better as this has ruined my own family much more then heroin
but when I was growing up there was the whole ‘fear factor’ and it was associated with HIV – and if you look at HIV figures these have also increased – whether it be due to peoples belief in medical science and the thought a cure is on its way or if its Nievety I dont know
however sayiing all this – I’m drunk and talking shite no doubt 🙂 :hopeless:
ps good to have you back ebabes! :group_hug
