  • Someone said something to me the other day that really rang true

He said, if one day I found out I’d got brain damage or shortened my life through taking drugs, partying with friends, bending reality, exploring myself, raving, and all the rest, I’d think ‘TOTALLY WORTH IT’

But if I one day found out I’d got lung cancer through smoking…. well that would be totally not worth it.

Smokings not that good, it’s the least good drug or habit I have, it’s barely anything at all, and its the MOST dangerous. Totally not worth it.

    3 weeks smoke free now

Fair play mate. Its not easy. Are you eating more ?

I gave up tobacco but i still smoke weed and hash.

I really want to stop smoking, I have gone like the whole day without smoking but my GF doesn’t want to in the slightest and will come in and chain smoke infront of me 🙁 I know I can’t blame her but it doesn’t make it easy on me.

I like your ethos glad you have given up.

I also think the same, but my motivation waxes and wains, as does my conscious thought regarding what I am doing to myself when I smoke however
    5 days smoke free today

And I feel like shit!! Bad chest what with all the junk coming out, but this is to be expected, short term problem vs long term goal, so no problem

I quit in 2009 due to the exorbitant price of cigarettes and tobacco, as well as health concerns (as I am getting older). Also stopped with cannabis of all kinds, more so because I have a much busier life and less time for drugs of any sort.

Perhaps if more folk stopped using tobacco, the hedonism led industries would be able to force the hand of governments to legalise other recreational substances, especially as the governments themselves will not want to lose all that tax revenue…

Id totally agree with that, and great going 3 weeks, Ive tried to quit several times and failed, usually when I have a drink and convince myself I can smoke for a night without getting hooked again

That is the hard part, when you are drinking or with friends.

A lot of folk at the radio station smoke and it took me a lot of willpower not to start again last year, especially when I had to basically recreate a entire stations IT and audio ingest/playout/archive infrastructure from scratch on a fraction of the budget, and most of it to deploy within 2 days…

I won’t also deny that changing my circle of friends made a big difference, there is a big smoking culture alongside drug use especially that of stimulants…

Hope you keep it up. Whens the next album bro!

I once quit for 2 months and my asthma got a lot worse, 2 times more hospital trips. and put on steroid tablets, i started smoking again but i guess it probably is like supposed to get its worst before it begins to get better, it’s just i was so insanely fucked up during the bad patch that it kinda didn’t feel worth it?
Hope you can keep it up girlie, good for you :cloud9:

oddly I find giving up smoking a piece of piss.

Know that one bro. one point when i was younger id chain smoke all day between having weed and i could always just completely stop. I found fags pretty disgusting.

For me it’s not the WD’s, I just like the feeling of smoking..

    Congrats!!!
