The Project
Hi all,
I’m a postgraduate student at the University of Kent and I’m currently putting together a piece of research on the perspectives of users of novel psychoactive substances (NPS) in the UK and how these perspectives relate to policy. There appears to be much underway in terms of discussion around policy approaches to control NPS in the UK. However, there is little consideration of the perspectives of users and this project hopes to incorporate your voices into these debates.
I’m using two research methods in order to gather this data, a self-completion questionnaire survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NPSUK for those that haven’t completed it yet) as well as some online discussions. All information collected from both will be used purely for academic purposes and anonymity is assured to all participants. IP addresses are not stored for the survey and all forum usernames as well as forum urls will be omitted from the finished project. The project is being supervised by Dr. Kate O’Brien and if you’d like to get in contact with me about any further details of the project, please email me at cj209@kent.ac.uk.
The Discussions
I’ll introduce a theme approximately every 24 hours for discussion which will revolve around NPS and proposed policy approaches in the UK. I’m really interested in what you have to say so please feel free to be as extensive in your posts as possible. The first theme will be introduced in this thread on Monday 19th July 2013 at 3pm BST. The themes will be numbered so if respondents could include the number of the theme at the beginning of their post, it would be really helpful.
By participating in these discussions, you are giving your consent for your data to be used for academic purposes and anonymity is assured to all participants.
Thank you,
Charlie
