Hey guys! This may be a weird thread, but I wasn’t too sure where else to go. I am not a drug user (minus marijuana a few times and ecstasy once, which brought on my Anxiety Disorder) BUT for the past 5 years I have been terrified of my food being drugged! I mostly worry about LSD, or marijuana being put in my food. I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depersonalization Disorder and have an extreme Phobia of my food being drugged. My fear is that if I ingest drugs I will have a Panic Attack that never ends, and I will go crazy! I will not eat anything left open in the fridge, I can’t eat at certain restaurants, and sometimes even tap water freaks me out…I know it is crazy, but I can’t seem to shake it! I am sick of it!
So, I guess my general question is…is it even possible to drug someone’s food with LSD? Could you put it in a glass of water? Or the fridge? I figure maybe educating myself about the subject a bit more would help me out, as I have been to, and am currently in therapy with little results.
Thank-you for your replies!
Sounds like you really need the therapy.
Yes, it is easy to spike someone with LSD, you could put a drop of it into almost anything. But why would anyone want to do that to you?
Maybe you should go and get some LSD yourself and do it. That way YOU are in control. Then you would realise that it is not so terrifying to be on LSD. I’m not advocating doing drugs (well, yes I sort of am) but it would then put you back in control and you would know that you had been spiked (because you would know what to recognise).
But seriously. Who would want to drug you?
I can see why Crispy might suggest for someone to take LSD to overcome the fear, but in this situation I REALLY DON’T think it’s a good idea. If you have pre existing mental health condition LSD might not be for you, and it’s not worth the risk trying it. The likely hood of what would happen is you’d have a terrible half a day freak out loads and then be back to normal afterwards, you might enjoy it you never know, but seriously if you are already that worried about accidentally ingesting it, I fear your mind and imagination may run away with you in a bad way if you took it intentionally as you’ve already built up such a fear. However the outcome would very unlikely be permanent, a lot of them “guy takes acid once and never comes down” stories are bullshit scare stories. It could mess you up for a little while though if you already aren’t feeling “together” within your self.
As for someone spiking you with it, this is highly unlikely in a normal situation. What started you thinking this would be a probable thing to happen? Do you live in some kind of shared accommodation with people who do LSD? Why only certain restaurants?
I am in therapy. I’ve has loads of it, lol. I guess I should have mention that I WAS drugged at a party, although I don’t know with what, 5 years ago and that’s what started the fear. I guess it has just snowballed from there. By certain restaurants I just meant that if it looks “dirty” or is in a “bad” locations, I won’t eat there.
Although I thank-you for the suggestion I don’t think taking LSD would help in this particular situation.
I’m sure her therapist will get to the trigger. We can’t really do it on here.
I’m not advising that she do drugs by the way. Just trying to put them in perspective. Many people do LSD very willingly every day and have a bloody marvelous time and go back and do it again and again. It’s not a death sentence or a one way ticket to madness.
I bloody wish that someone would put some decent cid in MY food or drink. 😉
Do you mind if I ask what your symptoms were when you were drugged?
I was once drugged in a bar. I drank a drink that was meant for my (at the time) girlfriend or her friend and suddenly found myself in a field in West Wycombe the next morning. I only have eye witness accounts of what I actually did. Apparently, I bumped into various people who knew me, throughout the night and they all said that I just blanked them and that I looked “off your face”.
Luckily as far as I know, nobody got raped. (hopefully).
True story!
Ahh yeah I can see why that would be a worry for you now you’ve said it happened before …
It’s always a good idea to not leave drinks laying about at clubs etc. But in your own home in your fridge should be fine, if someone breaks into your house, they are more likely going to want to steal your telly then drug your food, and you’d know if someone had been in your house anyway as a window would of gone through or a door lock broke. There really aren’t as many people that can get inside a house with out the occupant knowing and they are most likely people who don’t bother with house burglaries, so I’d say you’re safe in the knowledge that it shouldn’t happen in your own home.
As for eating in restaurants, they can be held accountable for any illness they cause people, through food poisoning or what ever. If it was found a member of staff had drugged someone the entire place would get shut down, the member of staff locked up and you would have the right to sue the living shit out of the place for putting you at risk. So this should be enough of a deterrent for any would be drink/food spiker working in a restaurant.
Like I say it’s a wise idea to make sure you don’t leave your drink unattended or your food mby (for your peace of mind) whilst eating/drinking out, but whilst at home, I really think you have nothing to worry about, and should be able to feel safe in your own home.
It’s a phobia Mr Fader Sir. By definition it doesn’t have to be rational.
I am shit scared of house spiders. No other spiders (except maybe deadly ones). They can literally paralyse me with fear.
Why?
Because my Mum, is scared of them.

I know, but the more you tell your self rational things, as opposed to irrational, the more they seep into your subconscious. It’s sort of the way the suggestibility aspect of hypnotism works. If you keep telling your self something, even if it’s irrational, you’ll be effected by the very nature of your “mantra” whether it be positive or negative.
I wanted to clearly outline what I personally perceive as a rational way of looking at this for username to read. I know the likely hood of reading it changing anything massively is debatable, but I wanted to put my point across to mby help affirm any positive thoughts on this that username might come across in life. Ultimately it has to be yourself who tells yourself this for it to mean anything, but if you’ve become a bit detached for what ever reason, reassurance is about the best a non professional person can offer to someone.
Talking of professionals and hypnotism, have you ever tried going to a hypnotherapist username? I’ve not been, done some self improvement type audio hypnotherapy and I can see them working a little (I didn’t do them for that long a period of time though so can’t say for sure), but I know hypnotism does work for some people, so it’s definitely worth looking into.
I AM a hypnotherapist. And I KNOW that it would be able to fix this particular situation, mast faster and more cheaply than traditional therapy.
I qualified at EICH, one of the most esteemed schools of hypnotherapy in the UK.
You can use mantras as much as you want and they can be effective but nothing is more effective than removing the conscious brain barrier and appealing directly to the subconscious (which is what hypnosis does).

I’ve studied it off my own back a little. This stuff really interests me. I’ve witnessed some funny, and amazing shit from hypnotism. The one time that totally blew me away was when I was listening to a past life regression hypnotherapy tape whilst on ketamine with a mate laying down with our eyes shut, but we’d accidentally left the mp3 player on single tune loop. We were under for a good 5-6 hours lol … the k made it too hard to get up in between, and we were in such a suggestible state we’d go straight under again. It took some mega effort to break the cycle, I think the discomfort of hunger broke the cycle (what was pretty enjoyable). That’s the funny part …
The amazingest thing happened for me the following week. I felt like I was walking on air, constantly for days. Like I was in the best mood I’d ever been in my entire life. nothing could or would phase me. It was like a whole week of pure bliss. I’ll never forget it.
We tried to repeat it, but it was just random luck that it had such an unintentional profound effect like that. I mean, the effect of what you were supposed to get out of the tape was way over pronounced by the other factors. I so wish we’d of managed to recreate that effect. But if a tape can do that, then going to see an actual hypnotherapist in person will have a much more profound effect (I’ve done k tons of times and if anything it normally makes me feel shit for a day after, so know it wasn’t that on it’s own).
I’ve tried hypnotism tapes other times and it’s lifted my mood, but not to that magnitude. Have you got any good links to stuff either about hypnotism or practical experiences (if that’s the right way to put it)? I’m not sure on your views on hypnotism for fun, I’ve seen it done to a few people I know and it it hilarious, but doesn’t come without it’s risks. Even to the hypnotist, I was on holiday in Ibiza when I was about 16. The night after the guy who was doing a show at our hotel did a show somewhere else ended up getting punched in the face by a policeman he’d put under and fucked with his head who’d instantly reacted to something faster then the hypnotist could to stop it happening. The policeman was fine after, back to normal, but the hypnotist must of had a sore face lol.
I personally think, although that stuff can be funny, it should really be left for helping people like username, rather then for Derren brown or David Blane to prep some of their marks for entertainment.
On the course we are taught all apsects of hypnosis (including stage hypnosis, which involves some stooges and the specially selected, highly suggestible people) but we are also taught that this is unethical.
We are nudged (and guided) towards clinical hypnosis with psychotherapy and maybe to odd past life regression etc.
I’m not sure I believe in past life’s, but something definitely changed in me and lasted a week or so from that time.
Judging by the number of results on google about a fear of being drugged this seems to be a common problem…

I was once scared of spiders (my sister) is but not snakes, and my mum has perfectly rational reasons to be scared of snakes when she comes from a country where there are 163 venomous species.
I slowly cured myself of arachnophobia since I moved to EA (where there are numerous large spiders), by watching them from a distance. although I used to catch larger ones in a small plastic storage box and let them out elsewhere (I’d often photograph them before release) this meant I learned that there are no venomous spiders in the UK and the ones which might bite won’t cause any long term problems and you have to really annoy them. the last spider I caught and put out the back where “there were some other spiders” I’d actually done a favour as he was the male and he was only in the house looking for females!
Also one evening, a large spider in the corner of my room (different species) moved very fast from her web. She noticed me flinch, but then went back up again and came down slowly, which seemed to hint she was intelligent enough to realise that moving around fast unnerves a larger creature and is not a good idea.
I now live in peace with the spiders, they stay in corners and do not run around all over the place, and I have had a 80% reduction in filth flies and other nuisance insects around the house, which doesn’t seem like a bad deal for all..
