One of my friends customers who is a regular at her work gave us this liquid in an eyedropper known as “tinker” or “tinkder” or “tinkler” Something along those lines. I’ve never heard of that but it has something to do with marijuana and you put it under your tongue and keep it there before you swallow. What is this substance that I have just ingested….5 times. Help!
Oh haha it’s TINCTURE. It was herbal tincture and I think it gave me a sort of body high but I wasn’t sure if it was a real thing. Thank you sir:)
Oh you lucky girl, is that the same thing as cannabinoid oil? the real health stuff?

Pretty much, it’s just the watered down version. To make it proper oil you just reduce the alcohol (carfully) by way of evaporation.

it is definitely real, but liquid preparations of cannabis went through a stage of being hard to get in the UK due to incorrect information circulated that this made it a class A drug (with stronger penalties for dealing or production).
it may briefly have been the case once (even that is unclear) but it is currently a class B substance in the UK and elsewhere is just viewed as a different type of cannabis.
Even in countries where cannabis use/dealing is part decriminalised there is slightly more control over production of tinctures and hash oil than other types of cannabis, though simply because folk making it are using flammable solvents and have caused fires/explosions doing so.
As medicinal (and some recreational) use of cannabis is increasingly allowed/tolerated in some parts of the USA (as are “home science” experiments that would more likely bring the anti terrorist cops to your door if done too obviously) I would expect it to become more commonplace, though there are concerns over the quality of the hash oil produced with butane gas. Producing it as a “tincture” hints at it having some kind of “legitimate medicinal” background rather than some street drugs processed in a backyard lab, and probably gets it into more respectable markets.
that said, I’ve encontered hash oil a few times over the years (as UK drug users don’t really care about class A. B or C and penalties aren’t that different anyway for small amonunts) but only read about tincture of cannabis in books about drugs written by older hippy types, presumably as its preparation takes more time and effort than just making hash oil. It remained on the UK formulary (legal pharmaceutical drugs the NHS and other healtlhcare providers could prescribe) until 1971!
