Just read an article on Ars Technica (Microbial factories could produce locally brewed painkillers | Ars Technica) on progress being made to make opioids by implanting the genetic material into yeast. Might be a long way off but interesting.
If anyone can help with a link to the article in Nature Chemical Biology, linked at the end of the Ars article I’d appreciate it (it’s interesting, but not $32 interesting).
