Makes you think don’t it? Had this not been found by those fishermen, the modern world of nautical navigation would be much like it was 500-700 years ago, mass loss of life etc. as well as ships going missing and sinking. Although I’m sure that given the abilities of the human brain, we as a species would have found a way to Precisely (or as near as) navigate the seas. The Polynesians found and colonised murica, the Norse, as well as the Saxons did there fair share of boat based adventures, the Norsemen found Iceland, Svalbard and The Faroe Islands, although, it is disputed that it was an Irish abbot whom first discover Svalbard as well as Jan Mayen Island; which has black volcanic beaches, the abbot in question ‘Brendan’ claimed he had found the mouth of hell…..
