  • Basically thinking about trying to get myself back into shape now that I’m feeling better. I don’t know weather I want to join a gym or just start doing something at home. I’ve heard about doing p90x but I heard the diet is pretty strict.

    Any recommendations?

uh p90x is probably pretty good, working out everyday is great.

if you do not already start riding a bicycle – it is not as heavy going or dangerous as it may appear at first, even in the UK and with autumn/winter approaching. Don’t try to be Bradley Wiggins all at once; you will only crash/knacker your knees. Get something like a hybrid bike (i.e something with European size 700c wheels and rack/mudguards that is more practical for actually going to places on and use it as much as possible instead of cars, buses, metro trains etc. If you do find you have a talent for going fast then you can get a racer (its fairly normal for cyclists to have more than 1 bike; I know folk who have about 3-5 :laugh_at: )

If your work or study permits flexible hours you can often dodge any particularly rough weather; cycling also means you are more likely to keep up with at least this exercise as you usually have to travel somewhere at least once during a week..

I’ve tired bike riding but fuck that.
I thought to myself, I’ll go for a bike ride around the block. Basically I live in the country, alot of back-roads and hills. Went and done like 2-3 mile, came home and near died.
How wrong I was about my fitness.. LOL.

p90x which program should i follow.

this should not knacker you out any worse than other fitness programmes; its easy to make the mistake of starting “too hard” and not paying attention to such things as gear ratios; there is other important stuff like frame sizes; saddle position which reduce the amount of effort and pain required.

If you are in Britain things get worse as bicycles are often marketed as “sports” equipment rather than transport.

Although I got an e-bike in 2008 when I had moved to East Anglia and had got older; from 2001-2006 I would either ride a converted MTB or a hybrid and it was not uncommon for me to ride across SE England – 30-40 km on some occasions from SE England to West London and back.

The trick with cycling is not to make it hard for yourself – many young people in mainland Europe consistently show greater levels of physical fitness than their counterparts in the UK yet claim they do “less exercise” – because they are so used to riding their bikes they completely forget that it is “exercise”!
