While doing my nightly internet trolling, I came across something truly horrifying….Its called MARBURG Virus, its the single most deadly virus known to mankind, it has killed 99.999% of people infected and has no-known cure, other than death. This got me thinking, is the ebola ‘outbreak’ mearly a ploy to send in this shit? Or was it already there?

gylfi don’t think you can count it appears to have had a death rate of 23% in the first outbreak.

its basically the same GD thing as ebola in that they are hemorrhagic fever viruses

As always, if it’s seriously nasty, Russia will weaponize it and America no doubt has samples. I’ll never understand why they keep smallpox samples now it’s been eradicated.

yeah hemorrhagic fever viruses are essientally incurable the best they can do for you is just give you lots of IV fluids and hope for the best, not fun.

the shit about the soviets weaponizing it sounds sketchy.

also some scientist here in the USA figured out how to recreate the smallpox virus without having access to the sample that is held by the CDC in Atlanta(the other sample is in moscow) and the fuck published his paper so anyone with the skills equipment and inclination can now make smallpox.

There are supposed to only be 2 labs with samples, but that wasn’t the case a few months ago.

smallpox is some nasty stuff and no one is vacc’ed anymore and we are a few generations removed from it so probably natural immunities are lowered.

cold war really messed us over with the intentional retentions of samples of all kinds of weird stuff; at the time it wasn’t a bad idea but now it looks kind of excessive to say the least.

Exactly the same thing with nuclear weapons. US and Russia could probably destroy the solar system with the weaponry the built up during the cold war.

i don’t really worry about the USA or Russia’s stockpiles as much as the possiblity of islamic fundamentalists getting a bomb or the North Koreans or the pakis/indians blowing each other up.

if they precive that they’re gonna get overun by the arabs they will try to take as many muslims with them as possible.

its just an urban legend but supposedly ronald regan hooked them up with a few tactical nukes in the 80’s should shit really hit the fan, that way they can blow up the middle east and we can just go in and scoop up the oil aftewards. idk tho, could be bullshit.

Think it;s an open secret that they have nukes. If Reagan didn’t sort them out I’m sure Israel would have managed to be civil with A Q Khan for long enough to get them from him.

Some of IL’s nukes are apparently stolen from ZA in the 1990s (around the time Nelson Mandela came to power) as various western nations quite simply “didn’t want blacks to have control of these sorts of weapons” (they were annoyed enough that a country with loads of natural resources had been lost from a traditional empire)

Although the British look with great nostalgia upon tech advances in the 1980s (especially small computers and embedded systems) nearly all of them were only facilitated as part of the cold war / military industrial complex.

I grew up in the shadow of one UK atomic bomb factory; moved 150km East 8 years ago and now end up in the shadow of the power station that produces its plutonium (there was also another atom bomb factory in the East at Orfordness but that was closed down). The UK makes rather a lot of these for a small county; and although whole missiles are not openly exported the technology is often sold to all sorts of nations (some less friendly even to the West than others!) as long as they will pay for it.

I had no idea we manufactured nukes, I didn’t even realize we had breeder reactors. How many are there that are still operational GL?
