coincidentally a lot of modern Roman Catholic Christian music sounds like Britpop (and there are a few tracks which even are based on electro house) – there’s a new youth music show on RMNL and they’ve been playing a lot of it recently.
TBH In Europe what seems to keep keeps Christianity going in spite of all the scandals in the last decades is ex-drug users rediscovering their faith (I can understand it to some extent as religion provides some stability and discipline in a persons life and isn’t harmful if not taken to extremes; any more than drugs are).
Jesus did manage to survive a fair few years hanging around all the docksides of those “Muslamic” countries and when they asked him if he was a fisherman answered “no, I am a fisher of men”. And he managed notto get stones pelted at him which is what seems to happen to that sort of chap so did have some skills at winning over “hearts and minds”.
BTW most moderate forms of Christianity and Islam (as well as many other religions) still allow a fair amount of “intoxicant” use and do not judge it as sin provided the user doesn’t neglect their other duties in life; the current global confilcts are sparked off for economic reasons.
Was reading yesterday about how the IS had got all the oil wells running (which takes a bit more brains than some backward stone age people could do) which is why they aren’t just caving in despite 40 countries with advanced military tech against them (and the pro-West propaganda/”good news” from Caversham) and worse still, some the oil is being let through by corrupting the kurds or whoever are supposed to be the “good guys” in that area.
Of course the USA / NATO can’t just bomb all of it as oil catches on fire and IS could as a final fuck you blow the lot up anyway so no one can use it (which would most likely create a global crisis; not quite armageddon but unpleasant enough)
