After 4 men died in suffolk from what they thought were supermen ecstasy pills, which you can see here:
Mixmag | FOUR DEAD DUE TO SUSPECTED DANGEROUS ECSTASY BATCH
Now even more of these PMMA containg pills are doing the rounds which look quite different but are possibly the same pills. You can xsee them here;
Mixmag | EXPERT WARNS THAT SUPERMAN PILLS MIGHT HAVE CHANGED APPEARANCE
unfortunately Mixmag have expired the article about these pills although the risk may still exist (I’ve checked Trimbos NL but not found any further warnings than those from end 2014); and it is now near impossible to get NL pill test results in any language as the testing organisations discourage them being posted online (otherwise they can get their funding stopped and be closed down).
The saddest bit of the Ipswich incidents was when I checked out social network info about the young man who was eventually sent down for dealing, although he was not of English ancestry (nor were some of his victims) he wasn’t your stereotypical “low class foreign drug dealer” either; all info is of an intelligent young man who knows a lot about music and alternative youth culture in UK; including music scenes normally only someone who is English and around the same age as myself would be aware of.
he could so easily have been someone I might have been partying with a few years ago or (even worse) one of the young adult children of someone from my work (which would explain his taste in music). There was still whining in the papers that the prison sentence he got (on the high side for this kind of dealing) “wasn’t high enough”, not realising that even this “lenient” sentence reduces his employment chances to near zero across the entire EU as everywhere now has the equivalent of a CRB/DBS check.
It would not be safe for him to remain in the UK after release; there has already been one (unknowing) dealer of PMMA pills murdered by vigilantés in Britain (the cops did nick the vigilantés and they quite rightly got even longer sentences than for dealing)
good bump GL; its quite possible that someone is sitting on a bunch of PMMA pills and is waiting till its safe to move them agian; shit sucks, although one reagent test will show PMMA so thats good at least
or they are just crushed and mixed in with fuck knows what else and resold – particularly after any further NPS control laws are passed in the UK and surrounding European countries.
Unfortunately many people are now so poor at science, maths and impulse control they’d OD or make themselves very unwell / start robbing to fund habits even if given access to 100% good quality tested substances at pocket money prices (like what happened when cathinones and other substances were uncontrolled here)
Also, those young people who do have more than one brain cell often get bullied for this since high school (which has apparently got far worse today than it was in the 1980s; and not just in the UK either) so when they grow up they either vote for governments who bring in these restrictive laws or end up joining political/religious extremist groups of various kinds.
idk if they were about and moving i’d think we’d hear about more O.D.’s
sometimes prohibtion almost seems the better path to keep people from hurting themselves, but then you realize that they still do at a cost greater to the individual and the state and then deregulation obviously makes more sense
there is a paradox though that re-pressed they could end up being less dangerous than the originals as whatever they are mixed with makes people feel so rough they don’t end up taking enough PMMA to actually overdose (this may be why British people of my generation are still alive after the 1990s in spite of having less effective harm reduction or testing in the early days and taking the most drugs out of the whole of Europe).
People in the UK don’t necessarily vote for specifically for extra prohibition or control; and claim to value individual over protective freedom (albeit often in a very flawed way which leads to such paradoxes as excessive drugs control) – prohibition is perceived as being less costly than tolerance.
Folk here also hate “giving in to the enemy” (what exactly is the “enemy” often varies across all 4 countries and can be a neighbouring country of the UK as well as as anywhere else in Europe or worldwide). We do also get immigrants from NL, DK and DE, NO and other similar countries who come here because “there are less rules that businesses must follow and the law enforcement is stronger”; to them its “like the USA but European at the same time”. Because these immigrants are middle aged; with grown up kids (so they have already taken advantage of their home countries taxpayer funded education services) and speak English no one notices them (unless they happen to know about other North European countries and cultures) and it helps shift the UK politics to the right of the rest of Europe.
