Success is something that we struggle to share a similar definition of. How do YOU measure success in life?
Waking up on a morning :lol_big: maybe a +++ or even lordy lord a ++++.
I dunno how to answer that personally tbh, Things haven’t been all that successful but when I consider all the totally irresponsible things I’ve done in my life, the last couple of years things have improved incredibly in that respect so I have to be pleased about that.
Nice to see you got the username trick so quickly, normally freaks people out, me being one of them lol.

I like that because I can identify with it. through negative and positive experiences I have gained perspective too, I like that you say you “have to be pleased about that.” I find the recognition of happiness and good fortune to be something I value so much more now, not letting the little pleasantries slip by and making an effort to embrace a good feeling, good laugh, good time, good chat or just the fact you are lucky enough to be able to draw breath, whatever. that’s where I measure success, the amount of time spent feeling good, laughing, smiling, and sharing that with others. nothing feels better to me than having a good time with like minded people and reflecting on it even more if it was unexpected. so many people (in the over advantaged first world we live in*) think so differently, some want to fill a massive house with all the big toys and beautiful possessions, most want their loved ones and children to prosper, others even want to crush any opposing force that could stand as an opposition to their sense of self no matter who it might hurt, its something I’ve been putting a lot of thought into. people get so damned motivated sometimes, charging foreword for the idea of being better bigger or whatever. I cannot grasp it. I would really like to hear some of the minds that circulate this sites opinions.
*We are very lucky, and need to be grateful, its a gahstly world and here we are chewing the fat on the net while people who are every bit as relevant and meaningful as you and I are watching their children starve to death.
That’s very true. I bet there are plenty of people that would be considered successful but are stuck in shitty lives they wish had gone very differently.
success for me is , be happy with ur life.
success is coming, staying, sometimes disappearing and coming again
When i look my sister, making career , divorced, having childs , but she never seems very happy,
am happy with my life, i just miss haven’t had the chance having childs until now, but as long i haven’t, am still happy with what i have
For me success came when I became a parent. I have done so many things wrong in my life, made so many thoughtless and careless decisions, but I look at my son and see perfection. I know that as long as I continue to raise a kind, compassionate, accepting and loving child that I have succeeded beyond measure.
I have a kid but that wasn’t always a roaring success but I’m definitely glad I’ve got him, even if he has turned into a little bastard recently lol.

Kids will always be assholes… It’s payback for whatever we put our parents through…
that’s true lol. He’s always been a pain in the arse but now he’s a nearly as bad as I was lol.
in about 2004 I had started meowing with a random kitten I would meet whilst cycling to work (about 0,5 km from my house was a steep hill to a less busy road, cycling was (rightlly) prohibited on the path at the top as there was a big risk of a collission with pedestrians coming the other way, and riding uphill near impossible on a push bike even for a fit young person (I was younger then!) and e-bikes that did not make you look like a senior were not yet invented.
So I had to dismount every day and would meow at the kitten (a short higher pitched friendly meow), and he would meow back and approach me.
One day the family where this kitten lived arrived, I quickly and somewhat sheepishly cycled away (I ddin’t want them to think I was going to steal the animal or harrass it in any way). But when I had got a few metres down the road looked over my shoulder, I heard first the two children starting to meow with their kitten; followed shortly by their parents!
particularly as I am an electronics / computer engineeer by profession rather than a zoologist, I consider encouraging an entire middle class suburban family to meow with their cat to be a personal success 🙂
That was a cracking story GL.

:sign0095: Ii just understood the cat is miauling, but the intersting part as i believe it is, I couldn’t understood anything, like two guys full of alcohool and talking together but they don’t know what the other is saying :alcoholic
really u should give a new languge name to ur english, german dutch mixture, but i would love to understand what u writte (lol)
I define success by how happy and comfortable i am living with myself …. You need to be happy with yourself in order for you to accomplish goals..
That’s not quite mt understanding of that. Many people are sucessful and achieve many thjings but make themselves miserable in the process. People without goals also have no added stress of potetiaslly failing to achieve their goals.
I suppose whatever accomplishment it was that made you fell sucessful will only ever happen if it’s a goal though.
succes..
I will define my success with my results. If I get the results as per my expectations then I feel that I got success
