Chronology of the rave

Thursday evening: Residents report sightings of ravers arriving at Tolworth Court Farm to check out the site.
Friday evening: Six vehicles arrive and force an entrance to the field.
7.05pm: Police officers arrive and begin to negotiate for ravers to leave.
8pm: 10 more vehicles arrive and organisers threaten police with “trashing” town centre. Police agree to allow ravers to continue with event on the condition it finishes by Sunday evening and they clean up.
Friday night-Saturday morning: Seven sound stages pump out music which can be heard four miles away.
Saturday, 8am: Ravers disperse leaving an almost empty field.
Saturday afternoon: More ravers arrive, by train and car from as far away as Holland. Site visited by chief environmental health officer Bob Smart.
Saturday 7pm: The police say they can’t support Mr Smart in his efforts to switch off the sound systems so he can’t go in.
Saturday night: The rave climaxes with up to 3,000 party-goers dancing through the night. Residents spend another sleepless night.
Sunday, 6pm: Council chief executive Bruce McDonald arrives to find why the music is still going on.
Sunday, 8.30pm: Police arrive and music is finally switched off.
Sunday, 12am: Left-over ravers throw bricks at a police car after a man is arrested.
Bank Holiday Monday am: The organisers of the rave clear up the rubbish.
Monday pm: The last of the ravers leave as travellers arrive in a bid to occupy the field themselves. Council workers try to make it secure.
