  • well I’m in sweden

    and it’s summer

sweden is not a country where you’d want to have a free party…

possession of any hallucenogen (even shrooms) is punishable by 6 months incarcerated rehab

    so fuck that

they even have a special ’emergency’ govt council to deal with anything vaguely like a free party

but me and my bro-in-law set up the decks in the village where our family is from and banged out a cool blend of old school tunes and current deep house / electro to an audience of about 7 people :weee:

over the coming days a number of locals took the opportunity to come and see us, give us presents and ask about the music they had heard the previous weekend

    all feedback was positive

although in fairness, those who didn’t like it were prolly too shy to say so

we said to each other at the time (shouted, really, over the blazing beats) “I BET THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS VILLAGE HAS EVER HEARD THIS KIND OF MOOSIC”

    and we were right

we danced and drank good danish beer and home brewed swedish spirits all night

    and the lord said

    “let there be fun”

so it just goes to show

    the law represents fear

and real people love to like a party

    fuck the police

so if i ever want some free rehab, its off to sweden with a bag of mushies. safe.

i was under the impression that sweden was quite liberal- dunno where i got that from. propaganda i spose. they did allow mdma to be used in therepy, tho, i beleive, so they cant be all bad.

how remote was the village? i cant beleive they hadnt heard house before, thats mental.

glad ur havin a good time, loon, what else have you got planned?

    ISTR reading that Sweden was indeed a very liberal country until the 1980s; apparently it still is in many respects and is better than the UK on some aspects such as access to social/health care and gender equality;

but as usual people took the piss when it came to drugs and there were massive social/health problems caused by overuse – the cost of this was picked up by the public purse and there was a backlash by the rest of the people which caused more conservative goverments to be elected.

    that’s a good article

    thanks for linking it up

more conservative goverments to be elected

at present there’s a coalition of social democrat, green and what used to be the communist party, all led by the social democrat

unfortunately, this previously progressive party are following Blair’s example (ie, being thatcherite)

the green’s are so desperate to hang onto a position that they are doing whatever the SD’s tell them, while the ex-communist party enjoyed a period of reform under a female leader, she lost her position due to a tax scandel and the new leader openly calls himslf communist and alines himself with old school conservative communism (which puts socialists off, due to the association with stalinism)

in fact, the conservative party are the only ones talking about welfare, social security for all and integrated education in the run up to this autumns election
