INFO>>>>>
Headlining the main room for this instalment is pioneer of electro and tech sounds, Billy Nasty. Techno scene originator, globe trotting DJ superstar, maker of many a mix CD, boss of both Tortured and Electrix record labels, Billy has done it all, the lucky sod! Having held dancefloors firmly in the palm of his hand for more than 15 years, Billy does the bizniz.
Continuing the Electrix records theme with something of a label showcase are Transparent Sound. Not lacking in experience themselves, Orson Bramley & Martin Brown formed in 1994 and have since been pushing their distinctive electro sound, experimenting with techno, acid and whatever else takes their fancy. Mr Bramley is also behind the superb Orson label which put out some of Point B’s finer moments last year. The boys bring the toys for a full live set, likely resulting in much jollity for all concerned.
Also playing live is nuclear physicist and general man of much knowledge and bass, Tim Wright. With a series of phenomenal releases for Novamute lauded as a new direction for dance, and following singles raising the bar again and again, Tim returns to ALT*CTRL for a third time armed to the sideburns with hot hot new material.
It’s not all electronica though, as world travelled drumming troupe Shorio are added to the mix. Their live show consists of three percussionists playing a huge array of instruments from all over the globe, combining pumping funk with subtle shades, matching dazzling skill and dexterity with emphatic creativity to coax unbelievable noises from their instruments. This is a real special show for Shoria as they are adding a vocalist to the ensemble, and flying a member over from
Another ALT*CTRL favourite, Debasser returns after missing his last ALT*CTRL gig due to an unfortunate “being really hammered” incident. On the orange juice this time, Jon will be showcasing his floor quaking
AS IF all that were not delectable enough, the bar is packed full of friends and fiends from Combat Records, Adverse Camber, and the bushes near the Ritzy in Brixton (Ferrel Child).
And lest we forget, the mighty ALT*CTRL Soundsystem will be playing across both rooms at key points in the night, blending all the above together and baking it in a technological oven till it is done to perfection!
We’re hitting the airwaves next week with a guest mix on Saytek’s new weekly Vybe FM show, going out at 1am on 16/02/06, tune in on 99.5FM if you’re in west or central London, else via the web at http://www.vybefm.com. The show promises to feature some great live sets and mixes, one to keep an eye on.
More dates and new mixes out soon, but for now, see you on the 25th!
