Just wondering what other interests tickles the fancy of us ravers!
computing? knitting? birdwatching? :scared:
go on admit u have a life outside raves!!!!:lol_fast:
not sure if i have many hobbies anymore; this is an all encompassing way of life
the ones which are left are roleplaying (Advanced Dungeons & Dragons), walking in the countryside and forests whenever possible, gardening (not sure this counts), photography (but i am trying to turn this into a business) and art
my soul thus bared i am going back into my cave:hiding::alien_abd
Does cycling count as a hobby?
cycling, exploring new places and observing nature (anything from random cats in the street to other wild animals, saw a live badger once raaaand an actual black adder in Oxfordshire), reading maps (once you learn the symbols good ones are as interesting as books), photography, DIY, and computers/technology/electronics – I can (just about) still wield a soldering iron and design/construct circuits etc..
but like rajsuspect said a lot of this is linked with raves anyway
Hehe… :horay:
IMO yes when you are doing it for fun/sport but its also a good means of transport to combine with other hobbies..
very much so
i used to have a flatmate i called crazy eddie years ago and cycling was definetely his hobby; what devotion he had to it too
seems we like some civilised activites too!
Me, i like to enjoy the countryside too (prob why i prefer raves to clubs!) knitting (yes you may laugh but i have some well funky hats and socks!!) making cards and jewellry, writing poetry and generally creating anything from anything! camping and orienteering and shooting are also fav hobbies.
Electronic music production and sound design, Electronics, Studying Corvids. I want to get into photography but I can’t afford it at the minute.

Cool, moutain biking is about the only hobby I have, outside music.
I would love to get into photography, but been told a half decent digital camera is like £500 and im skint.
I found out recently why sometimes you get the cyclists riding through places like the Ridgeway even during the evening and really early in the morning
they often do weekend rides called audaxes where you have to do 100,200 or 300km in a night – its long distance on varied terrain (anything from paths to normal roads) and you can either treat it as a race or just do it for the distance) – but because of the routes it often starts at night and carries through till the morning. (so FFS don’t block the paths as you are fucking up their times to get to the next checkpoints!)
as for digital cameras, a digital SLR is about £500 but you can get a compact with switchable auto/manual features (which is what you will want to use for creative photography) for far less than that (about £250-£300).
I use Olympus compacts mostly as a digital SLR is too bulky and expensive for me (plus if you have an SLR style camera at a rave people get even more para that you are a journo or evidence gatherer)
camping – lighting bonfires – and running around in nature – which I find infinately fascinating
guess i’m an unfulfilled girl scout!
Cycling/Mountain Biking (seems like there are a few of us here), Computer Games.
The other hobbies I have are linked with music/raves:
Mixing, music production (although I’ve been a bit slack of late), Pro Audio.
Well i, lets see, during the summer i will cycle everywhere i can, just to get out an about and have a good explore. Its quite good in my area cause we have an old train track that has been converted into a 30 mile long path that keeps on getting longer. And my other passions includes shooting and generally being out in the countryside e.g. working on the farm and wondering about the place. So that is how i ammuse myself in the summer. Animal wise i think i have seen just about all there is to offer in my area (except an adder).
look around and check the sales i saved loads on my camera doing this; last years best models and secondhand can be good too
also consider getting something not top of the range and using it till its boundaries are your limits; this will take a while during which you can save up for something better [and also work out if you want to be really serious about it and if you can sell your photos]
