  • Given the fact that there are going to be case brought against the police, and also against party organisers, doy uo realy think that having a video which can potentially be used for evidence by both sides up on an internet forum like this is such a good idea?

I notice that other internet forum users have employed a self censorship tactic to stop police getting hold of more potentially incriminating evidence.

You may think that the video shows the police kicking off, but what it actually shows is police trying to seize equipment and being met with violence. (as well as a freeze frame displaying what is essentially a potentially leathal way to stack a sound system).

No one is happy about what went on, but untill the dust settles, I sugguest it would be a good idea to get video and photo evidence off websites asap…

    Edit: Dr Bunsen

Having shit like that on film doesn’t do anything for the police..

jesus, it’s not even that great weather yet and the pigs are back to bother us…….bastards…..
does anyone know what happened afterwards? did they get their rig nicked as well as their generator? it looked like a few people got hurt, to say the least!

Today, a young man on acid realised that all matter is mearly energy condensed to a slow vibration… that we are all one consciousness… experiencing itself subjectively… there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves…. here’s tom with the weather! – Bill Hicks

Shit man, just go’s to prove that once again, old bill are cunts!
Lovin the mosh pit between old bill n ravers, big up the ravers for the “quick, get the genny back” attitude!:horay:

FUCKIN glad to say i was there!!! DONT GIVE IN TO THE DIRTY BABYLON YA!

wonder what old bill would do if you got em back in the eyes with ur own can of mace??

The party got their generator back by the way…

TBH though I reckon this was authorised at a very high level (including the obscuring of officers’ individual identification – this is an age-old and accepted tactic throughout the entire British public sector, not just the Police), it was going on before any of us were born.

To us ravers its an over-reaction – to the rest of society (particularly those who live near popular rave venues) its just “dealing robustly with a problem which could have created 3 days of nuisance”. in previous days the locals themselves would have been allowed to fight it out with the outlaws, with whatever weapons each side chose.

I get the impression cops knew they couldn’t stop the entire rave so the idea was to divert as many rigs as possible and clatter a few of the more stubborn ravers to “teach them a lesson”.

This sort of stuff happens everywhere , in the North it was routine and similar things happened in the SE a few years ago. Yes, the ravers of Manchester, Oxford, Reading, Aylesbury all “fought back” as well. The ultimate result was only that more cops were put on standby and more rigs got confiscated. they also are now tracking down people who own stacks and hassling them during the week…

Bear in mind any complaints against cops will be countered with potential PEL violation prosecutions as well.

It may seem harsh but the cops are weighing up the complaints of 10 or so stubborn ravers, against 100+ villagers if “nothing is done about a 3 day rave” – middle class villagers have way more power in society than young ravers mostly at college or not in constant employment.

Unfair, but thats the way society is run at the moment and it will take a lot more work to attempt to change anything.

BTW very soon there will be no difference between Suffolk and Norfolk police – they now work together anyway to stop raves and are going to be merged. think about who the MP for Norwich South actually is, he is not a happy bunny at the moment and in this country people “share the pain” when they are not happy.

and surely there is a better way than having to fight cops all the time? this sort of crap happens on the streets in Reading and London all the time – gangs brawling and riot cops steaming in.

that sort of bullshit is what some of us who like raving are trying to get away from…

Cops only get called to raves if people are very lax about security or logistics (which is what may have happened here according to some of the SJ threads) – or people draw attention to themselves in a country where people are insular and nosey.

You can’t easily fight an S63 without losses. it is better to move to a backup venue and regroup.

If people could get away with overpowering civillian cops every weekend like what happens in some other countries or even the cities of Britain, gangs would run the streets and take over the raves and real paramilitary police units would be regularly deployed to restore order. Speak to a few european friends (or even London ravers); they will have some stories to tell you about all this.

Incidentally Norfolk has 5371 km² area, Suffolk 3801 km². Although the terrain and layout often means villages aren’t far away, surely its possible to find less on top venues?

apparently free (or charity) events dont need a PEL

    nice vid tho

what actually happens is they do need a license, but the fee is waived or the license is raised in the name of the local council (which can grant licenses to itself as many school halls, village halls and youth clubs need PELS)

its done out of “goodwill”. Same as if one of us won the lottery and decided to use some of the money to back a legal rave event..

Of course this means the organisers are accountable to the councils wishes and if the council don’t approve the event can be stopped. The charity still has to meet with cops, council health and safety/licensing bods etc and do all the paperwork and they are bound to start and finishing times and if they go wrong can be brought up before Court.

I’ve also heard that councils are increasingly withdrawing this goodwill as charities become more commercialised and council budgets are being slashed.

you need to add PRIVATE to that and it still dosent stop them taking you to court where you may have to argue it. and they can still use the public order act and its many wide ranging powers.

the term FREEPARTY was coined back in the early ninetys to avoid PEL(PUBLIC ENTERTAINMENTS LICENSE), so as to differentiate between a pay party.

indeed – even a private party on someones own land held by the owner can be busted if the neighbours whinge about it.

was reading a local paper where some chap had recovered from cancer and was holding a house party; his neigbours complained as it went on after midnight and ended up with EHOs and 15 cops shutting down the event – he was hauled before Court, his home stereo confiscated and he was forced to back down and admit he had made too much noise..

Despite having recovered from a life-threatening illness neither his neighbours nor the law was willing to give the man any slack.

FFS if my own neighbour had done this and I knew he had just recovered from cancer I’d probably be helping him set up the event!

That’s pretty heavy shit. Although I like the fact that the guy lying on the floor after being maced was still hanging on to his beer!

Did the rig get taken? I didn’t reckonise it or the people, but it’s been a while since i’ve been home……

    got the genny back allegedly
