if I’d known about this I would probably have gone just for the comedy value!

Stowmarket is a small market town in Suffolk.

They also had all the regular customers in there (who would probably have been age 45 upwards Suffolk farmer types) as well as the ravers); who were quite alarmed it seems by all the noise and the kids stacking…

Apparenty the bouncers said it was getting out of hand and the owner moaned and whinged and “never wants one of these things again.”

Similar problems have beset the crews in Reading when they try to use licensed venues…

Granted it was probably not the ideal venue for an indoor rave; but if they aren’t accepted somewhere, what are the people supposed to do?

Raves are far better pastimes IMO then what goes on in somewhere like Ipswich, where people seem to have nothing else left for them other than ragging motorbikes and cars in car parks; which is far noisier and dangerous, or attending conventional nightclubs which even the cops know are more blighted by violence and bad behaviour…

I think it looks rather fun…..

if i had known about this party i would have gone. when did it happen??

I think it was around may or so… didn’t know about it either. do you live in suffolk as well?

    welcome to partyvibe BTW!

hi, so it happened in may did it?? i didnt know anything about it. yea im from a place called little stonham near stowmarket.

these events are called hall parties,

they are happening all over norfolk & suffolk (an a few in outer cambridgeshire), although they dont seem to be in the same venue twice, i think this as the regulars and manager are shocked when they’re live music night is invaded but 20kws of speakers and some hardstyle & hardtrance with a bush of dreadlocked ravers “stacking it hard” ,

i dont think they fully explain the nautre of the music before the event, as many local bands put on events at these tipes of places, so all they have to do is pay upfront for the event

obviously the locals dont like it to much and the managers dont let them back for another night

the cops also frighten away the hall owners as well, both Norfolk and Suffolk constabulary have contacted hall owners to warn them off renting their venues out. Seems daft TBH, no worse than any other music.

the only bad side to these events i supose is the fact that very often these halls are very close, if not next door to residental areas and there are usually lots of party peeps wandering up and down their streets(usually cos the OB try to stop people(illegaly i guess) entering the hall:you_crazy ) or hanging around giving the public a bad view of us.. you just cant win eh?

the cops can only stop people entering the hall if its over capacity (health and safety) – or to prevent a “breach of the peace” – but if the hall owners get paranoid sometimes they call them.

mind you I’ve seen some of the halls round here and if you tried them it would get a bit too packed..

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    ha

Stowmarket Snooker Club! they even let punk gigs go on there (P.U.S and maybe even The C**ts played there not so long back)

tbh, i never thought i’d see the day when that venue would get cained by ravers!! shows you just how much the scene has changed round here over the past 10 yrs or so

GV sits back in his chair and tries to remember what it was like when he was young
