Synonymous with the progression and preservation of Detroit’s techno heritage, Underground Resistance’s operations continue to resonate heavily throughout modern dance music.
Hot on the heels of the full release of their long awaited new LP, the richly diverse yet startlingly intent ‘Interstellar Fugitives 2: Destruction Of Order’, Underground Resistance are set to return to London for a fully-fledged UR party. Whilst being a rarity in itself, this particular event will not only see UR unleashing their finely honed blend of electronic warfare – music which to this day has them widely regarded as one of the most formidable forces to surface during the last 3 decades of electronic music – but maybe more intriguingly, exploring their increasingly eye-opening visual identity.
Typically shrouded in relative anonymity, Underground Resistance Operative Abdul Haqq is the man with the delicate responsibility of visually representing the thoughts and vision of the UR collective’s musicians. Having, over the years, blessed releases from UR and other similarly legendary Detroit artists such as Model 500 and Red Planet with his own unique futurist imagery, Haqq’s legacy is testament to the fact that he is a truly creative force… And it is this very creativity has led him to since go on to explore the medium of film and, in turn, bring UR to these shores…
To present the European premier of ‘Interstellar Fugitives 2: The Movie’.
Produced by Abdul Haqq, ‘IF2: The Movie’, for the first time ever, opens a window into the world of UR and their music. By means of exclusive studio & performance footage, be prepared for a candid insight into the recording of their recent LP revealing the creative processes within which they operate and the inspirations from which they draw in order to globally realise the movement that is, and shall remain, Underground Resistance. Little more can be revealed at this time about the film itself, but to further immerse you in both the sights AND the sounds of UR, Haqq will also be showcasing a selection of his artwork from the vaults and the UR DJ Assault Squad will be well and truly deployed!!!
Somewhat thematically celebrating the global reach of Detroit techno, and UR specifically, we are extremely pleased to also be joined on this occasion by London-based DJ/producer/label owner, 11th Hour’s MATT CHESTER for his debut live performance. Having formed part of the nucleus of 11th Hour Technology – a forward thinking web-based resource for all things techno – Matt has since run with the baton, honing his DJ & production skills and launching 11th Hour Recordings to fevered reception across the globe. Through hard work and a staunch belief in a sound, Matt has taken 11th Hour on tour across Europe with himself and fellow label-mates Shawn Rudiman & Arne Weinberg prescribing extreme doses of emotive dancefloor stimulation and, bringing things full circle, 11th Hour now finds it’s music distributed by Submerge (Detroit record store and UR’s distribution arm) amongst the company of the many artists whom inspired Matt to make music in the first place.
The Outlet Collective DJ crew will also be on hand to play a few records…
We sincerely hope you can join us!
