Killing civilians or even plain killing is never acceptable but are we really that suprised people feel this way given what’s going on? The most conservative estimates suggest more than 30,000 civilians have been killed in Iraq since the coallition invaded making the west guilty of murder on a massive scale. We should all be very deeply ashmed of ourselves!
millions protested
every legal challenge to the government was made
yet this war was started by the decisions of fewer than 10 men
they should be up against the wall
i was caught up in the July 7th bombs in London, with my wife and daughter who was 5 weeks old at the time
as terrible as it was, i can’t feel too sorry for myself as i don’t have to live in Palestine or Iraq
i don’t condone any killing, whether it’s branded as terrorist or war on terrrr.. it’s all killing for power
Pretty depressing…:sad::sad:
Hopefully the presence of loonies on both sides of the current stupidity will cause most people to stop and think about what is going on.
Trouble is it is so easy for people to stop thinking about those who die (whatever their race, religion, etc) as people, and be railroaded into thinking in terms of “terrorist”, or “zionist”, or “muslim”, “christian”, “jew”.
It’s been the shout of fear, and of hate throughout history that we must categorise those who are different, and think of them as things and not people – give them no humanity, and it cannot be taken away. Then our conscience can be clear when lives are taken, because those lives are not “real”
That is where the true war is being fought, and the only way to win it is to make sure nobody forgets that when people like this talk about jihad, or defending the homeland from x,y,z etc, that it is ordinary people, who have lives, have loves, have homes, and families, that are going to be killed. Not terrorists, or americans, or muslims, or israelis, but people.
This is where our media is failing us now, and has been since 9/11 (feeling deeply ashamed is playing into the same view IMO – the feeling that the western world as a whole is somehow responsible continues the move from people to object, making us all to blame, because we live in the west.)
I don’t feel ashamed, because I have never given anybody the right to kill in my name.
The fact that others claim to be killing on my behalf, and for my safety is a fabrication on their part, and I will keep telling them so until hopefully they hear (as should anybody who opposes the war on terror, and it’s continued escalation by men of no conscience, and less bravery on both sides). If I truly felt my safety, and that of my family were threatened, it would be very clear, as I would be defending them myself, by joining the armed forces (even though I despise the idea of killing and war, the last world war proved that there are circumstances which cannot be resolved through words and diplomacy alone. If there were such a threat again, I would be one of the first to volunteer, as I am sure would many others…)
This is however not that conflict, and despite the fevered attempts to convince us that we should be scared by people who have something to gain from that fear, I am hopeful that they won’t succeed.
My feelings on the video… If the guy is so eager to go fight, give him a gun and tell him to go find Dick Cheney. Oh, and tell him to wear bright orange, so he looks like a deer….:laugh_at::laugh_at::laugh_at::crazy_fre:crazy_fre:crazy_fre
This is all IMO though…. People like that guy really make me growl….:head_bang:head_bang:head_bang

You’re right of course, we were lied to and the majority still opposed the government in several western countries often overwhelmingly so. But we should all be doing more rather than letting it go I think…

Again I agree and these are points well worth remembering, but the fact remains these people are our democratically elected officals…
Still not a reason to allow them to include you in their (undemocratic, as it was based on a lie)war, or their attempts to take the actions of an extremist minority, and use them to foment some sort of crusade.
Would you blame a Nigerian for the actions of the president of that country(who was also allegedly democratically elected). I know I wouldn’t (in much the same way I wouldn’t accuse an ex world war German soldier of being responsible for the holocaust – unless they happened to be one of Hitlers architects).
It is true that most real evil in the world is caused not by people saying yes to it, but by people failing to say NO. That is not the case with this one – I know I said NO, as did a million people protesting in London, and countless others over the country. And we have to keep saying NO, which IMO includes refusing to allow yourself to be counted as having given tacit permission in your failure to stop it…:get_you::get_you::get_you:
You’re right of course…
arrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggg!!! stuff like this gets me so frustrated. ok i can totally understand why their so pissed off, wot if the shoe was on the other foot with iraq having power(money) and deciding they dont like the way we are doin things over here…well i dun even wanna think bout it! IMO it was none of our business in the 1st place and taking it this far???!!! wtf
but i cannot understand the mentality of people who follow religion to the point of killing. the koran may well be thier guidance to life but surely any person can c wher to draw the line.
it gets quite fooking scary wen i see these supposedly inteligent people on tv, hu are in control of what happens to us, talkin and everything i hear is bullshit & then it gets very fuckin scary wen i realise they actually believe their own shite!!
crazy stuff
or economics to the point of killing
let’s start a war siad tony today
it makes me feel very sad for the innocent people caught up in it all, the fact that thousands of people are now displaced, its just madness! I absolutely hate george bush he is nothing but a war monger and tony blair is so far up his arse! its just embarassing! if it wasnt for their actions i think that the london bombings prob wouldnt have happened.:yakk:
