scarily true tho, i have a few mates who got fully sucked in a year back, they didnt quite get as fat, but they definitely got spotty, their hair matted together, their personal hygene vanished. in fact ive seen healthier-looking coke-heads than that lot, it was genuinely worrying.
i played it up to level 30 and then realised it was get out then or become pondlife. it is hiddeously addictive, and playing for 10hours straight starts to become normal. i felt used by the developers.
i played starwars galaxies when it came out as well, that was wicked, much more realistic, but ultimately capitalist.
the problem with these games is that the developer’s revenue depends on people keeping their subscriptions up, so they actually want/need you to spend your whole life on it, cos they get paid more. they could clearly make those games much less of a grind, but it’snot economically viable…. a very worrying development…
