  • I’ve been closely monitoring social/political developments across the World for about 10 years now, and am becoming worried at some of the things I am seeing – not even so much from politicians (who are corrupt and self-serving the world over) but from the people in various countries…..

after all most Western (and even many Eastern) nations do have some sort of election and a range of candidates)

people are worried about extreme right parties getting more and more votes worldwide but I don’t think that the kind of “old-style fascism” (i.e white skinheads marching in the street) is the real threat to the future… globalisation has made immigration and travel a vital part of the world market economy and that isn’t going to disappear..

what is the real threat IMO is the “normal people” voting in by their own free will governments which reverse the “permissive society” gains of the 1960s to 1990s and re-introduce a lot more authoritarian/puritan controls on society (but those which would still allow the market economy to operate)

    what does everyone else think?

i’m surprised you need to ask GL

it’s been screamingly obvious for 15 years or more

to us and probably lots of others on this site maybe – but I see too many people (even ravers) who have “their bit of fun” and then (often after getting into problems due to their own lack of self control) join the call for the lockdowns :hopeless:… how do we combat this?

What about the counter argument – that this is also a backlash against the times in the 90s when people (at least in Europe) had a bit more freedom and abused it?
