I’m with vodaphone(.nl) who seem generally good with very helpful customer service (unheard of in this country) but there are no providers here that offer cheap SMS to overseas numbers which is a bit of a killer.
Sooo, I’ve been on a SIM only contract for a while but I changed to a proper contract and new phone (a sony k800i) yesterday after realising it was cheaper…
What phone and provider are you on? And how do you rate them?
i’m on O2, and i rate them very highly.
i have a pay-as-you-go genie sim-card (run by o2), which is basically whenever i top-up £10, i get a choice between 300 free texts, 100 free minutes, or 50 texts + 50 mins.
i have a motorola L7i (i think). when i bought it from the O2 online shop, it came with free £30 HMV vouchers, free blutooth headset and free 1gb memory card, and it cost me £80. fucking brilliant deal…
whenever i have had problems and contacts O2 (like when i needed a new sim) they were friendly n helpful and all that, and my new sim arrived 2 mornings later.
haha i sound like an advert :weee:
I buy handsets from the carphone warehouse – great advice and deals 😉
My [not actually a]contract is a now very old one now and is with utility warehouse
i’m with BT Mobile. i get as good a deal as any other provider and a new handset every 12 months
02
600 minutes anytime any net work mon to fri
weekends 2000 minutes anytime any network
500 texts 50quid a month
i was on 02 and miss them terribly …
i am now on orange due to my girlfriend being on their tariff, seen as though we speak for around 2 to 3 hours a day (long distance relationship) we needed something better than ‘pay as you go’ … they had a deal where its free anytime to call each other ”magic numbers” or something …
ill be back on 02 as soon as i can, a quality service …
Orange pay as you go-nothing to write home about really just Average:yawn:
I have been through most of the providers, Urm well i have had, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone, 3. Think that is them all.
I was most impressed with 3pay as i had it on pay as you go and it was something like put £30 and get a 1000 anytime any network minutes. Never tried the contract with them.
I hate T-mobile and Orange as they are soo crap for signal! couldnt get signal in my own house at work or in my local pub! The 3 places where me mobile was helpfull so fuck em fuck em all! 😉
Had a mobile since 1993…
I’m currently on Voda contract although its a throwback from the days when I lived in Reading and was more involved in the rave scene in the SW/SE and London.
Unfortunately also the Voda signal in East Anglia is crap compared to the SE and SW whilst O2 is much better (probably because O2 set its GSM sites up when they were part of BT and due to Adastral park there are many BT buildings here that can be used for masts)
Got a bit of a dilemma though, I don’t really want to put more money into O2s pockets as they are the people who run the cops Airwave comms system, without which stuff like last weekends bust wouldn’t have been possible.
Plus I like to support British-owned businesses who treat their staff reasonably well whenever possible and Voda still has a British HQ, call centres based in the UK and a British Asian CEO, also people I know who are ravers work or have worked there and they have said its an alright place to work at.
At the same time though O2 is currently delivering a better product.
TBH if Voda would sort out the signal problems here I’d be more willing to stay with them, I already end up with more free minutes than I can use as it is…
im with 02 but i send most of my texts via Skype. They cost 0.5p each even to international mobiles afaik.
I’ll have to remember that, I’ve been very resistant to VOIP but this might bring me round…
i have a similar deal with BT via a digital phone attched to my modem / phone line, but not my normal house phone
can anyone tell me, how do i join skype?
chearse
chearse
try googling skype? errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm
where you looking for another answer?
I was before but its pretty much fine to use now. I cancelled my normal landline and use purely VOIP for phone unless im away from mac. I pay a small extra fee for my own phone number (0208, london) and voicemail. Works really well for me. 🙂
