i didnt go on saturday night coz i didnt finish work till 3am. so i decided to go on sunday afternoon instead . woke up about 1pm looked outside and it was a beutifull day and got ready and left for the party .i live in swansea so wentwood is about 45 min drive but it took me about 3 hours to find the party . soon as i got near the party i got stopped by the police and asked where i was going they hassled me for about 30 min got searched . i told him that my sister is only fifteen and she came to the party with some older kids and hade done some kind of drugs and is freaking out and i had come to pick her up. so they let me go through .
about ten minutes after getting to the party some of the rigs started to turn the music off . next thing i see is people shouting and screaming so i got a bad feeling and started to head back to my car but it was getting all messy now . as i tryed to go past a cop he asked me to get back i said i just want to get back to my car he pushed me so hard i fell on my back . then i pointed at my car and said look dude i just want to go .
this is the first time i have ever seen this kind of hassle at a welsh party. i dont know why the the organisers stick to the safer areas like trefil . i can see it from the residents of wentwoods view they suddenly wake up on sunday morning with a 50k rig in there back yard. in trefil it is well out the way you can have a 100k rig there and nobody would be disturbed even the cops are happy with it. hope the organisers find better venues soon or we are gonna see this sort of things all the time.
Was a proper phat party while it was going. The main rig was huge and soundin spot on. Fair play to the organisers for the effort, its just a shame that twats have to start fires in a forest ffs! See what your sayin about trefil, been there before and that was the middle of no where!
think trefil is still blocked up 😥
Blocked up??
I think Trefil has been blocked at various times by the council as the locals complained about the raves – the problem is that the only main access point is through a village and once again sketchy parking/driving causes problems (apparently locals were getting their wing mirrors knocked off), plus the sheer amount of traffic looks like a mini-invasion…
rinsing the same site over and over is arguably worse than using a new site which is more heavily poulated. if residents face the same problem again and again, they can create much more effective detterents against the raves. if you only keep residents in a particular area awake fo one night, they’ll be a bit pissed off. do it 10 times in a year and they will fuck you up. we had residents ascociations on patrol round our area ayears back when we were dumb.
at least the organisers of this tried to source new sites, even if they did turn out bad. personally i think this has less to do with location and more to do with media. bottom line is the police need to been seen to keep order. we only faced real police opposition when the press were accusing them of being ineffective. the same is happenign ona national scale now, with guardian etc running regular peices on the re-emerging rave culture.
setting fires doesnt help either, we had a similar problem:
Ravers burn down cottage
Apr 10 2003By John Williams
AN ILLEGAL rave on Saturday night ended with a deserted cottage being burnt down after 700 partygoers swarmed to Coldharbour.
Two fire engines went to battle the fire at 7.30am on Sunday after residents of the village endured a sleepless night, disturbed by four sound systems that took over a private field.
some guy climbed an abandoned two room house with his fire poi, you can guess the rest.

trefil was blocked all last summer with 2 or 3 HUGE boulders, think it was blocked with 1 at sum point but it was mysteriously moved, tis a really nice spot jus windy as fook!
wasn’t it in a SSSI with houses nearby? i don’t know cos i went loco locally
i think that we need to make the parties a little bit more private and smaller what i have noticed over the last couple of years in wales is that a lot of people that dont really understand the freeparty culture are turning up thinking that its just a place to take loads of drugs most of them dont really understand the music either . we have got a couple of crews in swansea that used to do a lot of parties a couple of years ago but one off them just dosent bother anymore coz the idiots kept turning up and causing trouble . the cops used to be really tidy back then they just used to turn up and see what going on and they they used to see everybody enjoying themselfs and left us alone sometimes they even had a cup of tea with us .then the idiots started turning up and disrespecting the cops and burning cars robbing people.
This happens in England too, TBH thats why your numbers are being swelled by English crews as they have been forced out of their areas due to lockdowns…
Although me and my mates enjoyed ourselves and behaved well I do feel a bit guilty and saddened about how everyone here just rags one area and then just gets in our vehicles and moves into another area when the lockdowns come, and I think its got to the point where we have all “run out of country”.
Definitely feel there’s a need to go back to the roots, 200-500 people who know one another as real friends and create a shared experience, not something that is basically trying to be “Tidy Weekender on the cheap”..
wello, i was at trefil last may bank holiday . had a good one was very cold ,rained ,help a bloke who had turned his van over at the top that was a right laugh as all the people he recruited were a bit mangled . but we got it upright .i was dissappointed to see him driving through the site only an hour later .obviously wasted ! took my dog as did loads people .,was shocked by the amount of broken glass . not good place for anybeing not wearing shoes . left on monday very happy met someone from aylesbury and abergavenny.
bear in mind trefil is also used as a flytipping spot by most of Wales, I went on some Welsh locals forum once and they described it as “the ashtray of Gwent”. Its also possible the boulders are there to deter this as much as any raves…

hi dude we had one of them cozy parties last weekend in memory of one of our friends who passed away last year . there was about 60 of us on friday night and about 100 on saturday . we had most of our stuff taken by the cops at the last party so we scraped together what sounds we can and had a nice tidy little party . the sun was out all weekend the cops came and just asked us if everything was ok we smiled back at them then they even said to us “ok then enjoy your selfs”and left us alone.
