  • i cant understand why you do , if its of no interest to you why do you read the topics, never mind having a go at the member who placed the topic, without even inputting to the debate,
Cause that seems to be the way with some of the treads on here, the member is slagged and made out hes in some sort of support of the issue, when it was placed as open discussion even to the point where there accused of being racist, or where its something you yr self is maybe bored with, that don’t mean that everyone else is.
like we don’t live in a world of mushrooms and rainbows , i have been involved in free parties for about 12ys now putting them on and attending them throughout Europe and uk,
but that don’t mean that i don’t like to talk openly about stuff going on around me, and finding out what other folk think of it, and yes some of it is polticial and some of it is about the actually state of this country. regarding laws, race, police, religion, after all these things are going on in real life
so maybe if its of no interest to you , and you don’t have anything to offer to it , that you leave it to those who do want to talk about it, rather than it getting into a slagging members off
    end of rant ……goodnight…………….

i may have misunderstood you, but i’ll have a go at a reply :laugh_at:

i can get quite heated in political debates, because i believe strongly in what i think is the right thing! however, this is OK in my book. what isn’t acceptable is when people start getting personal and insulting people over politics. heated debates are good, attacking people isn’t!

although i have to admit, i have got really pissed off with the most upper-class snobbish cunt ‘cos he was so authoritarian nationalist it hurt… but i can argue with real old-fashioned conservatives and not hold their views against them!

we’re all entitled to our opinion! raaa

no see thats cool, thats ok
    its just folk that aren’t interested cause they say it bores them or there sick of hearing about something, put stupid comments in and a interesting tread gets dumped so to say {not locked or deleted}

i think if you’re going to start a thread by linking to an article, you should always put your own view of that article

otherwise it comes accross as someone just posting another person’s words that they believe in. why else would you encourage (by posting on here) people to read bullshit racist bile that’s been printed in The Sun?

i mean, come on, who the fuck reads The Sun?

it could be worse… they could be reading The Daily Mail :laugh_at:

am i the only one who just cant get my head around politics. i had to have someone sit me down and explain who could be prime minister after tony blair :crazy_diz:crazy_diz:crazy_diz:crazy_diz:crazy_diz

even the independant is a total rag these days. i remember when they ‘sponsored’ the legalise weed demo in london (96?)

they recently apologised for their pro-weed campaign didnt they?

i thought the independant was supposed to be liberal left-wing (i dunno, i got the same stance – all the major papers are shit) but it’s the same old centre-bollocks now innit.

this is much better reading material:

it all went down hill after it was bought by murdoch

The Guardian still runs some real news

they do have some good reports. saying that, I sometimes find them as one sided as the mainstream media

democracynow.org is good if you have good a decent concentration span

the independant isn’t owned by murdoch is it? surely not, i know he owns the sun, the times and news of the world, but i don’t think he owns the independant…

the guardian ain’t a bad paper as far as the main papers go i suppose, it’s more left-wing than most (although that ain’t sayin much)

yeah democracynow is a good site. the thing that annoys me about media in general is murdoch… he practicaly owns half of it. monopoly or what… and he’s a right-wing pillock n all.

it’s a public company that he owns significant shares in, allegedly

the independant’s chairman is an Irish big businessman… former oil dealer… far cry from anything that can be percieved as left of centre

thats pretty fucking double-standards innit. one of the reasons i was considerin bein a journalist and writin freelance, was to get some proper authentic journalism that isn’t leaned on by murdoch back into the spectrum…

but it seems like pretty much ALL media is fucked over nowadays… :you_crazy

    all media is commercial nowadays

that means that what you write must be in line with what the editor wants, which is what the advertising revenue want.. if you can find a media outlet whose sponsors are left of centre, then you’re ok

it’s not a completely lost cause though… if you think of how much more popular fair trade, ethical and organic products (from food to banking) have become in the last 5 years (doubling in demand and some year on year) … companies selling these products are growing and looking for outlets to publicise themsleves… and therefore sympathetic audiences, and therefore suitable media outlets

yeah things like fair trade do seem to have become much more of an issue, e.g. nike were finally criticised, although i’m not entirely convinced that they and other companies don’t still exploit third world labour…

some of the tabloid views on economical trade seems to have improved in the media. however many social issues seem to be backtracking now to thatcherism and staunch tory views :you_crazy

i couldn’t be sure but at a guess i’d say tabloids are becoming less popular… or perhaps newspapers in general maybe. from what i’ve noticed, tabloids are laughed at by pretty much every geezer my age, even though their parents read ’em…

hopefully there will be a shift to the left in future years… within my age group here, it’s a pretty even split, leaning slightly to the left. however in terms of the older generation here, it is very very right-wing, a lot of BNP support and a massive majority for Tory. maybe a sign that things are progressing, if the younger generations of a authoritarian stronghold are are moving liberal.
