A solicitor representing the family of Mark Gibney says Chief Constable Richard Brunstrom may have breached his clients’ human rights.

Paul Beck, from Liverpool based solicitors, Quinn Barrow said: “There might be a human rights violation. Photos taken from a crash scene for accident investigation purposes have been exploited.

“These were not publicity photos; Brunstrom had 101 avenues to take if he wanted legitimate photos of accidents to show to the journalists.”
“Would Brunstrom like photographs of his children being shown to journalists? The question doesn’t even need to be answered. However, when it comes to some poor unrepresented Scouse family then it’s fine.

“What goes through the man’s mind? He’s devastated a family.”
More than 1000 MCN readers have already registered to call for Brunstrom’s dismissal. If you’d like to add your name to the list, then email mcn.online@emap.com, now, with your full name and address

This bloke is a complete tosser, he was doing a presentation to journalists about safety on the roads (i think it was about motorbikes). He was using pictures of injured or dead riders to put his point of the risks involved with being a biker, he chose to use pictures of a man who was decapitated when he had an accident on his bike. 1 of the pictures he showed was of the helmet the man was wearing on the side of the road with the head still in it and the eye’s open.

this was done WITHOUT the go ahead from the mans family.

He does have some very strange view’s on matters one or two i agree with but then a majority i dissagree with. I like his views on drugs as they are sensible, but his ideas on road policies are backwards. If he has his way we will not be able to get away with the odd bit of speeding and it will be a big brother style system watching all drivers. :you_crazy

    Ah well my rant over……………..

this is a bit explaining the detail of the pictures he used.

North Wales Police have unveiled photographs of a decapitated biker in its latest anti-speeding campaign.

The image showed the man’s head with his eyes still open lying on a grass verge. In another shot the torso is embedded into a car.

North Wales Police Chief Superintendent Geraint Anwyl said the head was torn off by the force of the impact, he explained: “His oxygenated brain went flying down the road for 50 metres, before he expired. It’s horrific, I’m sure you’ll agree.”

The gruesome images were shown to journalists and local authority representatives at a meeting to promote the road safety work of North Wales Police.

North Wales Police Chief Richard Brunstrom said excessive speed caused the accident. Brunstrom said: “We did it to serve a purpose. The images are there to make an impact today.”

However, Brunstrom also confirmed that the families of the dead men were not aware the images were being used in the presentation. The identities of the victims were not given however the details of a distinctive T-shirt worn by the motorcyclist was shown with the slogan: “Piss off and catch some real criminals”.

Brunstrom promised that the next phase of the campaign would be softer edged with more education and less punishment.

Thing is, only the mans father and brother knew about the full extent of the injuries that had been recieved, it was kept quiet from the rest of the family as they felt it would upset the family more knowing how severe the injuries were.

So they all found out through radio and TV also through people gossiping… not a nice way to find out how a family memeber really died.

wasn’t the guy wearing a T-shirt with an “anti-police” message on it?

Clearly this is the heddlu “getting their own back” in some way or another. Although he is the “top man”, I expect many other cops were involved as well in the choice of this image.

NWP/HGC were also one of the first police forces in the UK to start surveillance on internet discussions of the rave scene back in 1998 – they were also involved in an incident in 2004 where their cops threw a genset off a cliff as a vigilanté action, this situation escalated into a riot in which both civillians and cops suffered serious injuries.

Yeah he was the biker who was wearing a T-shirt with “Piss off and catch some real criminals” on it.

seems like they dont know how to handle a situation with out causing conflict…

In newbury and surrounding i heard of newer schemes being brought out to literally scare people into not doing something. outside liquid nightclub they had a car which two teenagers had died in earlier that week (was a major blow to the local community, everybody knew the two) with coppers standing round telling you about drink driving and saying literally ”this will happen to you” now when your heading into a club thats not a very nice thing to see but hey … i dont drive anyway.

the drug scheme ran in my old school showed pictures of addicts who had died in the most horrible conditions, showing everything which to be honest scared me but jesus christ i still hate the image imprinted on the back of my head now from it!

if people want to ride motorbikes then so be it, a close friend of my grandads lost his life to one but he loved his bikes and it was HIS CHOICE to ride them, he knew the risks. Why give people the right to do something then scare the living hell out of them for doing so.

    brghh …

    :yakk:

or (like most cops/politicians/business leaders) they don’t care as they feel they have enough power to deal with it..

could it not just be a case of good cop bad cop?

or does it seem the cops at the top are normally there because conflicts help promotions?

what i mean is, the ones who feel they have the power to tackle for example us in the party scene cause conflicts because being seen in the eye of the public to tackle what is regarded as trouble means a raise …

I think this is the case – lots of cops, politicians and business leaders make their names by going through a crisis. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesnt….
