they are contributing nothing to the forum and clogging the chatroom up for hours at a time :you_crazy:you_crazy:you_crazy while being offensive to each other
maybe the ip could be blocked for a week or three as was done once to another group of schoolkids? make them go clog up someone else’s site :groucho:

Dr Bunsen – if you do end up blocking the IPs,be careful not to block Austin by mistake as he’s also working for Hampshire Education and his youth club could be from the same IP range!

This is one of USE’s posts from the youth club (also a private IP address routing via a proxy)
note the similarity of proxy IP addresses – could be a tricky one, if the gateways are allocated by DHCP as well (which they often are), should we block on the proxy IP or the “real” one?
I can understand why Hampshire (or their IT contractors) have done this (they are using NAT and firewalls to treat some “ring-fenced” public IP space as a big extranet, common practice in public sector organisations with multiple sites) – but it does make it a bit complicated for external websites….
Have explained the situation to them all,but h t i d x DA and Starlough were moaning about the abuse they are receiving in the chat room from the children today.Just thought i would let you know;)
there a lot more of them this week and they are just hogging the chatroom – not doing anything worthwhile at all wrt partyvibe

cant really understand how they are getting away with using the chatroom so much while they are at school :crazy: I guess the teachers could be glad they are on it and not disrupting the lessons
I think a lot is due to filter software, as PV is often indexed as a “news and info” site instead of a “message board and chat” site
I think we should ban these IP’s but post a thread explaining exactly what has happened and why we did it, so at least smarter kids will realise what they have lost..
This might also indicate the private IP addresses are being shared across the schools though.. :hopeless:
I think the way to go with this lies with a new version of the chat room software due soon by the same author which comes with better moderation functionality. I’ll let you know how things develop…
