Did anyone watch Panorama ?

Ive just watched the Scientology side of the story : http://www.bbcpanorama-exposed.org/watch-the-video-documentary.php

Its going to be pretty interesting watching the two heavy weights battle it out. I didnt quite realise how sinister the Scientologists were until i saw both documentaries. They proper hounded the BBC reporter and im not suprised he blew up. Its interesting to note that the scientologists blatently lied about why he blew up before showing the footage.

“Sweeny was asked why he kept making accusations of brainwashing. His reaction was unexpected to say the least”.

This is untrue. The part where he blew up was over Tommy insisting he knew all that was said in a previous interview he turned up half way through.

Messy, messy situation. But interesting all the same 🙂

Ah i remember why i am soo tired today! i sat up and watched this last night.

This whole Scientology thing is actually very iffy, not something i would ever like to get involved with. I was shocked at how indepth they apparently go to try and destroy people’s credability, they also seemed to not be able to take critisism very well. Infact they didn’t seem to want to get into a proper discussion about it at all.

Really i dont blame the reporter for losing his rag as i probably would have in that situation, i was actually waiting for a punch to be thrown.

Being that i was a little stoned when i watched this, i think i should read more about it before i comment too much. I am right in remembering that this whole “religion” was started by a science fiction writer and that the believe that aliens have something to do with it aswell?

it all seems all a little too far fetched for me? :you_crazy

scientology is the biggest load of bullshit to hit america since “the bush administration”, it is a cult COS ITS A CULTURE OF PPL U DUMB MOTHER FUCKERS, watching annoyed me not cos the whole cult/religion is bullshit, because how can so many ppl be so stupid, be sooooooo stupid, it also annoyed me how they said about the holocaust like that, and muchos respect to that crazy fool who screamed at the head of scientology

I wish Louis Theroux had done the show, cause hes much more laid back and would have got them to open up and make prats of themselves much easier. They had a handle on the Panorama bloke straight away and knew exactly which buttons to press to make him lose it.
I read ‘Dianetics’ years ago when I got given it by some Scientology preacher in Camden Market. Some of it is remotely interesting, but as a religious manifesto, it’s just insane. It’s just science fiction gobledygook and I can’t beleive that anyone sane could take it seriously.

i totally agree luid theroux should of done it, but, as we saw last time he did something(with that religious family who thought EVERYONE was a FAG), he did loose him self with them as well, and they didnt really open up to him. You see there is a definant fine line between being who ur interviewing and trying to see in, i do think those hidden camera things(like the NHS nurses things) are the most honest and get right to the root of there wacky insane world.

to answer the space master, i dislike them because for the reasons up there(i did not write very good ones) but also cos they are so secretive, they stalk ppl, and if ur not one of them they see u as the enemy, i think a real religion is where u love everyone, they are almost an occult,

I read about them on the Wikipedia link, they seemed ok.

They don’t seem different to a lot of religious / New-Age gnostic movements around today, they just filled in the blanks with different phrases to what other movements use.

M8, l think ppl need to evaluate the evidence more, l mean one reporter doesn’t make a witch-hunt. The Wikipedia article seems ok, it’s a logical progression from start to finish of the article.

Anyway why haven’t they tried to bait me into their cult, i’m getting jealous here. :weee:

have a look around on youtube and the net in general… anyone who’s tried to report on scientology has been seriously hounded

people are often made to cut all contact with their family if their family don’t agree with scientology. people who try and leave are treated to some really evil behaviour

i think it’s more like a modern day masonic organisation… you have to be rich to get in, you have to keep paying.. a secretive organisation of rich, powerful people

Agree with u global. maybe its just me, maybe its mens intuition but when i found out about their religion, and about their ideas, it jyst gave me the creap. what ever it says on wiki, or anything else the web says, i get the creaps by them, end of story
