in north devon there’s a population of wild goats for a thousand years or more
as with many other places in devon and cornwall, the local population is being rapidly displaced by wealthy retired people moving from london and the home counties
these people often move and and then set about changing everything about the place they’ve moved into, whether it’s by destroying the local economy so those scruffy working types will leave and a nice antique shop can be installed into the old factory / fish market / timber yard etc
but this really sums it up… http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/6670923.stm
the people who complained about these wild goats are almost exclusively people who have recently moved into the area
i wish they would all fuck off and die (the people, not the goats)
Yeah Me too ,whats the valley of the rocks without feckin goats? They have always been there and as its their home they deserve to stayraaa“destructive and dangerous pests”? sounds about right for the second homers and the like.
i suppose the only consolation is that they are all pretty old so will be dead soon enough
A Cull? :groucho::groucho: LOL
this happens round my way as well – but what I find worse is that the olds who are genuinely from the local area (i.e the ones who own the farms, businesses,land in Suffolk/North Essex) are blatantly colluding with the newcomers to allow these sales boost their retirement funds
anyone <50 years old is pushed towards pokey little estates in Ipswich, BSE, Lowestoft and Colchester…
then these people wonder why the land is “invaded” for raves at the weekend, to an extent its only the youths taking back the space that has been denied to them..
