  • russia is a country that really interests me in a dark way, from secret killings to the backstabbing spy underworld, the end of the soviet union, the wars with chechnya, all of it – the complicated dark history really intrigues me.

the problem is i dont really know much. i’ve read almost all of wiki, articles etc. but what i’d love is a really good book coverin the history of USSR/Russia, the politics and the KGB situation etc. – the whole lot really

    can anyone recommend any?

    anyone? 😉

    buuuuump

no info from me im afraid mate…

The spy stuff is well interesting tho. I just rememberd about that guy getting killed at the bus top with the poisen tipped umbrella. Im pretty sure that, that was real and not from a film anyway.

and that lame thing about the rock which english spies were dowloading info onto.

and that guy getting killed with that radioactive poisen! crazy stuff.

    m m m m mega bump

ive got my school booklet if u want a copy… its schooly though

You could always read up on ‘Remote Viewing’. Either Cliffy or Daftfader know a bit about this too.

It’s almost like a physic ability where a person goes into a deep trance and is able to place themselves in another part of the world and see what’s around them.

The Russian government in the 1920’s began serious experiements involving this new kind of research thinking it could be the unlitmate weapon in warfare and pumped millions of roubels, with the exception of a short break when Stalin declared the eveidence too superstitious and banned all research, over a number of decades. The KGB we greatly invoved too using human prisoners and guinne pigs. Besides from reading seret documents in American bases, the ultimate goal was to cause assasination by remote viewing. In the 70’s the Americans decided there was something to it and also began pumping millions of dollars into the research, but they were by this point miles behind the Russians in terms of results.

So that’s maybe something you can check out Boothy if you’re after sinister Russian stuff. It’s quite fascinating stuff once you get your head around it.

I can’t remember what or where it was, you could probably google it, but a hostage situation was resolved when the authorities brough in a remote viewer. He was able to tell the armed assault team how many hostages were in which rooms, how many hostage takers there were and what rooms they were in, what guns and armoury they had, which access points to the building were suitable for the assault team etc etc. Anyroad, the assault team planned their assault on the building based on the info the remote viewer gave them and the result was spot on when they attacked the building. Cool hey??

Unfortunately not mate……….read a bit of translated Russian literature, Tolstoy etc…. took me a while to get through & all dated, nothing about the country as it is now. Would interest me to go though, the underground in Moscow looks mad!!!

it is a mountain of dandruff

There’s a good documentary called “The soviet story” then you have solzhenitsyns works. In terms of modern Russia I got all my information from thinktank papers given out for free at university.

It is mainly dark things.. Black_January

Considering the green party, well that has an interesting tie to the Soviets,

Gorbachev, the socialists and the Green Movement.

If I had more time I’d go further.

    Greetings from Russia)))

Lost and Found in Russia – Susan Richards – 9781848850231 – Guardian bookshop

Far from Moscow and St Petersburg, there lies another Russia. Overlooked by the new urban elites, in the great provincial hinterlands of the Volga River and Siberia, Russians struggle to reconcile their old traditions with the new ways of living. This title demonstrates how in Russia the past and the present cannot be separated.
