Hi folks, Just wanted to put up a post honoring those in our armed services.
Without these brave men and woman who gave their lives we wouldn’t have the quality of life we all have today.
Also to all members of the armed services currently in operations, I’ve got the upmost respect for them all and appreciate that they risk their lives for our country.
hey do you think that Matt (i’ll do what you want) guy could fix it so theres no more wars?
Cause i think that’d make a lot of people happy
fair enough respect and commemorate all who died…
but i just think the point is missed. all these people died and it was a fuckin tradgedy, n yeah we shud remember it
but why the fuck is it still happenin today?!!!
masters of war:hopeless: throwin statistics out the window, what do the men behind desks really care about
I buy a poppy every year and i do remember but not just on the day
i think the reason its all still happening is because a lot of people don’t remember, and an even greater number of people still havent worked out, or choose to ignore, why the men behind the desks fight wars at all.
And unfortunately on the grand scale of things even if we put all the desk men out of business people would still fight (take fear and greed out of the equation and maybe things’ll change)
I don’t think there’s any easy answer Boothy, the only thing i’ve come up with is to try to live my life the best way i can. A lot of people will disagree with me, and a lot of people have different ideas about what is ‘best’
we stopped the music and had the minutes silence at the rave this weekend…
People weren’t sure how well it would go down but everyone respected it..
TBH I am not surprised as out of the people present at most raves these days at least one of them will know someone who is serving in HM Forces, and the Royal Anglian regiment has had a lot of casualties recently in the Middle East.
If we face up to it even those of us who are “100% right on and anti-war” still have some responsibility for what is happening, this current war is being fought over resources which are becoming scarce, yet we still expect consumer goods to fall in price and want cheap fuel/flights…
after all as fun as it is there is no real necessity to use loads of fuel to travel 60-100 miles each weekend to get to a club rave which loads of us do….how many of us bought a new computer, mobile phone or music gadget this year? all of these require oil to produce..
They are now planning to build a new war memorial in Ipswich as they have filled up all the space on the current one – and need to put new names on it because of all the young soldiers getting killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I am all for it but think they should put it inside a “peace garden” which contains plants etc from all around the world, and info encouraging good international relations and multiculturalism..
At a War Grave
No grave is rich, the dust that herein lies
Beneath this white cross mixing with the sand
Was vital once, with skill of eye and hand
And speed of brain. These will not re-arise
These riches, nor will they be replaced;
They are lost and nothing now, and here is left
Only a worthless corpse of sense bereft,
Symbol of death, and sacrifice and waste.

What happened to the other minute?
TBH I wasn’t sure of the exact duration myself (and its not like a BBC roadshow where they have a GPS-linked clock to time both the DJ sets and something like a silence) but what mattered IMO was that they actually did this, at an illegal rave where a lot of the people would have been anti-war and against a lot of the “system”, but everyone still had the humanity to respect the silence…
