mostly reggae and that kinda stuff and then a mixture of all the dance genres…nothing commercial
its not really a music orientated festival…well it is i guess, but not for me

When’s it on and where? might have a look into it:love:

i thought you was on about this event …

Hi folks we have good news shamania 2008 has today been awarded its licience. We have been able to nagociate a none stop 24hr music policy starting at 6pm friday the 1st till 2am monday the 4th august this covers 3 stages.

Details at this moment are limited as we have been awaiting conformation on our liciencing application

What i can confirm is that last years main stage will now become the second stage covering all none psy music types with a lager main stage being brought in as its replacment and of course we cannot forget the chill out area.

As of last year our aim is to bring you the same chilled out friendly festival only slightly bigger and better which we gaurentee will once again blow your mind.

Site to be vacated by 12noon tuesday 5th

As for line ups last year we dropped the bomb, all i can say for now is its bigger and better and will keep you posted.

ahhhh thats the glory of it! the location isnt released. you either get a coach to it, or you get directions on your ticket if you’re driving
its usually on august bank holiday weekend

the bank holiday in august is always at the end of the month :you_crazy

What music styles are there? I am looking for my 2008 festi’s now, gonna try and get a few people along…..

    is there any jungle there

i might go depends how much cash i got

Shambala festival music types, from when i went last year, were reggae, jungle breakbeat bit of techno dubstep disco, world, psychedelic rock, some crap rock, i saw some latina at one point, jazz some groove
the main stage is usually the more friendly music, but i think the dance dome is where its at its a big undercover stage and shuts at 4 am, they have the bedouin lounge whitch is chillout( very chillled out if u get what i mean ) and orientates round acoustic

shambala is less of a music festival and more of a way of living, both in way of friendlyness, sharing a moment and, exploring new things, last weekend there were no police on site and the festival organisers want to keep the no authority and freedom to party how u please

the place has to be kept a secret and if anypone went last year, please dont put it on the net

tickets are slowly increasing untill the festival moves again i would bet

as well as having music a large part is arts and crafts offering alot of different experiances(kite flying, bushcraft, spoon making, painting, exploring, drawing, there are even some hot tubs, unfortuantly the lake is out of bounds (well it was last year:laugh_at:)

there is a spiritual side and they have many spiritual healers in the shrine section including massage dancing meditating and so on and so fourth

the part i enjoyed the most was the organised debates and conversations about hot topics eg politics, enviroment, ways of living, religion, war, peace and so on

this is a festival of freedom, i dont wanna unleash any more cos its one of those things uve gotta experiance

also theres a fanc dress on saturday, and EVERYONE dresses up!

The Shambala festival is small family-friendly festival based in Bristol, Avon. It focuses on environmental issues and offers the chance to learn new skills and crafts. There are also independent films, workshops, talks and debates, comedy, a fresh organic market, fair trade coffee, practical demonstrations, a speaker’s corner, site art (a new art trail and a range of get-involved sculpture) and ‘music with a mission’. The Bristol Permaculture group create a garden space incorporating art, crafts and sounds.

On the Saturday night there is usually 7000 people in fancy dress. DJs and speakers headline a green venue, which hosts talks about world issues, an anti GM opera, workshops and independent films.

Kids activities include a full and diverse program of activities for all ages, such as creative workshops (shadow dancing), trampolines, circus fun, games, music, performances from Helen the Hat and others, and a samba procession on Sunday. Many activities have themes around cultural awareness, the environment and rights. Children are be able to add their messages to the Rights Tree, to be posted on the website for the world to see.

Venue details aren’t available until you buy a ticket and band line-ups aren’t made public in advance. Ticket holders find out who’s performing when they get there.

great news. Love shambala. it’s exactly the kind of happy go lucky vibe that’s been sucked out of the festie scene by the likes of mean fiddling corporations. bring it on!!!
