just had a look on there out of curiosity (no I am not signing up although Dr B may have a profile)
it is proper bait
http://www.bebo.com/Profile.jsp?MemberId=3754918228&ShowSims=Y
real names, pictures, locations..
gives the feds a good idea of exactly how many youths are attending illegal raves and even what colleges they go to, who their friends are..
thing is each individual page isn’t too bad on its own but collectively I’m not surprised that any randoms looking in must think there is a “massive problem” with illegal raves
to be fair some of the youths are fairly clued up (some goth girl even linked to one of our recent threads) but others seem to think they can exhaust the feds budgets by turning out “suicide rigs” every weekend (it hasn’t dawned on them that this is in fact the anti-terrorism budget they are diverting to deal with the raves…)
Give me strength! :crazy_diz
I see what you mean. It’s mental how many people have started there own crews and are determined to get a rig together to add to the other 100odd. It’s not too clever that a lot of them list their names and put photos up of themselves in association with their rig.
Rigs are the new decks. Period.
Every group of friends wants to own a rig. TssK!
I actually wanted to get me own rig but now i’m not so sure. The way things are going with the OB and that it doesn’t seem viable starting one up:hopeless:
Might give it a while and see how things pan out:love:
If you want one because you are interested in sound and soundsystems and you would treat it like a hobby or a profession (hiring it out) or use it for licensed nights then DO IT!
If you want to get one so you can plonk it down in a field and play your music at people so that they come up to you and go “phat rig mate!” then don’t bother. It would be more beneficial to join up with an existing crew and offer your skills, support and knowledge.
Sorry to sound a bit harsh but it really is getting a bit beyond a joke.
Well i wanted one to mix between the two. As in hiring it out but also putting on free parties as well. It helps that my cousin has his own mobile disco and he makes quite a decent bit of wedge out of it! Does it on the side of his regular job as well so he’s proper loaded!
And with the free parties, luckily I’ve got a mate who owns a nice bit of land so he’s agreed that if and when i get a system i can use it. Just as long as i don’t take the piss though!
haha bebo is populated by 13 year olds, i have one but never use it… s’all about myspace, more customisable and better for promotin nights or music. facebook is just a tad gash.
I actually know someone who has such a mini-stack…
I can get away with blending in at one of the new parties as half of them think I’m the same age group so I’ve chatted to a fair few people but something worries me about the current lot, there is way too much K being done and they don’t have the actual “community” ethos that the original EA ravers (like Biotech and friends) have more of.
it wouldn’t be so bad either if peoples friendships weren’t so fragile, as soon as things go pear-shaped lots of people seem to fall out with one another :you_crazy and everyone seems to burn out a lot quicker too
the way its going its becoming too easy for feds to marginalise the rave scene as youth-related gang activity…
if he has neighbours they can still get you turned over if there isn’t a TENS
Incidentally for the purposes of policing/law you are also in East Anglia (well East of England)

Well I’d say his nearest neighbor is about a couple miles away and he’s safe as fuck as well. needless to say it’s an absolutely perfect bit of land!
sounds promising. Still think its worth doing the proper site plan especially working out how vehicles are gonna get in and out as thats what often brings it more on top..
my old crew used to do this even for warehouse parties, we’d use google maps, a GPS receiver and the electronic maps to work out all the entry/exit points
At their best they were in a building and set up within 30 mins..
hmm, in the last few days a lot of profiles have gone private and some of the youths have said they are gonna take down the bait “band pages”
to be fair at least a few of them are listening.
incidentally..
I knew this was gonna happen one day.. (extreme right of photo, looking at stack). it had to be the most bait out of the parties too (2007-07-14, got busted hard by 3 forces (was good party before that though))
Bad innit GL, concerns me to fuck with people taking photos. Good to hear they are showing some concern about their advertising of what they do, I don’t mind if i advertise what i get up to but i try to avoid incriminating anyone else.
I am beginning to reconsider my stance on social networking sites, recently my old fella had a rant at me over something and i had no idea how he knew. He then told me some one had sent screen shots of my face book, I know who this is now as it took me all of a second to work out. This person is not going to know i know this and i am not going to react, I just know this person is no longer trustful or a friend…. Maybe social networking sites are a bad thing, its a shame as for me and my friends its really handy…
Wahey! :weee: Is that really the first time you’ve been caught then?
It is the first time I’ve been pictured at an unlicensed east anglian party. There used to be a few pics of me on the old SJ gallery (was more bait then as there are actually less Asian ravers in SE England than there are in East Anglia! and I was then actively involved in helping put on warehouse parties).
After Feb 2006 there was no need for me to hide my face as I no longer worked in the Civil Service or had any large involvement with unlicensed raves, but I can see how this sort of thing could be problematic to those in normal jobs or when pics/profiles fall into the wrong hands (like what SL said).
there also are a few pics of me on DSI looking confused/metrosexual/fat.
I can put up to an extent with the first two but the third prompted me to go on a diet (I was weighing in at nearly 70 kilos at one point when my mum was staying at my house before leaving for Malaysia and feeding me.)
I don’t mind being short, but short and fat is a no-no for me.. :laugh_at:
one of my pics still made the favourites page of a young lady from Essex though 😉
TBH I never got any hassle from the cops because of photos blatantly showing me at illegal events but I know some people who did. The cops do know exactly who I am and what I have been up to in the past but I think a lot of how much grief you get is also how you conduct yourself outside raves (I have nearly always had a steady job and have not done much other crime on a regular basis other than drugs for personal use)
haha, bad photos are the worst. hate in when someone puts a bad photo of me gurning or looking like im addicted to smack on facebook so everyone can see.
