problem is, chavez is a complete reprobate. dont get me wrong i hate exxon mobil & realise the lengths they will go to maximise their profits !
the only difference that has happened in venezuela is that there is more accsess to health care with all the cuban doctors chavez brought over in excange for petrol.
The infrastructue is a mess, no new roads, hospitals , schools , housing built. No sanitry or other infrastructure for the shanty towns on the mountains round the city. No industry or investment in anything. refineries are not being maintained which cuts production and means venezuela has to import refined fuels at world prices, which it then sells at a loss (subsidises) . A litre of petrol in venezuela is 3-4 pence
There are severe shortages of milk sugar cooking oils, dairy, meats & corn flour, which is now imported, venezuela was 100% self sufficient in these prouducts and more, up until only a few years ago. They were exporters of food.
The place is so corrupt that literally less than 1% of monies allocated for improvements (schools, roads etc) gets to where it is meant to.
Most of the states within venezuela are govened by chavez’s brothers & relatives.
Meanwhile the rich get obsenely richer and the poor still have nothng.#
A massive landslide that occoured a few years ago almost wiped out a town and killed 1000s, . With all the promises the gov made to rebuild, ‘nothing’ has been done. It would make the katrina, new orleans gov reponse seem like manna from heaven & chavez even offered money for that.
Chavez is a complete idiot, he has given the farc rebels in columbia $300,000,000 this year alone, and the farc rebels are now just uncontrolled drug runners ( ie not controlled by the cia) and are not socialist in any form.
Chavez gave one of the main guys in farc a call on his sat phone a few weeks ago which gave the cia the location of the recipient (nosey fukers) – somewhere in the equador jungles near the border to columbia. Within munutes they had gone in there and destroyed the rebel camp who were caught literally in their pajamas & unable to retalliate. The main guy was killed and his bodyguard who survived gave the americans the main guys hand which he had sawn off, to prove he was dead and to claim the reward money. ($5,000,000. – good money really, quite a result for him) —
unless chavez wanted him dead, but i doubt it.
It then got nasty with all millitary build up in both countries against columbia. The impending attack was called off when many of the tanks & other millitary hardware venezuela was moving towards the border broke down.
As for giving exxon a bloody nose, top marks!
