  • dunno if anyone else from here went but some friends of mine from two of the local rigs did a pub night in Stow….

first time I’ve ever been there and was fairly surreal, they had the stack in this 1980s style function room (like one of those pubs what tried to go “olde worlde in the 1970s/80s to attract the CAMRA lot), a bit like a hall party for grown ups :laugh_at:and town was full of gary’s all playing rnb from their cars and driving round in what appeared to be a circle…

all the usual Suffolk lot were there, good to see everyone again :laugh_at:

random moment was completely mistaking Scouse (who had cut his hair short) for someone else from the crew and talking to him for some time without realising this (it was dark though….) – then again he claimed to have first met me in 2006 but I think he must have been introduced to some other Asian dude as I only started getting to know the younger crowd here and go partying properly in 2007 (and EA’s scene has more Asian/Oriental people than many other areas!)

Managed to get a few pints of Adnams too which (being from a coastal brewery) is hard to get as inland as Stow… :alcoholicall finished a bit early for me (had to get the train back) and noone was doing much afterwards which was a shame, but it makes a change me actually being awake and able to function and do stuff today …

im pretty sure i know where that was, is it sort of near to the train station or more in the centre? i got told that some people have squatted some buildings right nxt to the station as well as i know the people that owns them :laugh_at: she doesnt think its quite so funny tho… :hopeless:

the venue right near the station, within walking/staggering distance

heard about various squatters in Stow but TBH they all come across as teenage kids doing it as a “gap year” sort of stunt or having fallen out with their parents temporarily rather than genuinely being homeless or doing the old style “right on” squat what also served as a info shop etc..

ha ha, yeah im pretty sure i know where it is, although most of stow isnt really that far from the station! quite funny what a small world it is… i doubt the squatters near the station are anything more than people looking for a place to trash/party rather than any kind of DIY culture thing…

Yeah a good night was had by all involved i reckon.
You made me giggle when you asked me if id’d seen Scouse/Mark tonight when we’d been chattin for about 15 mins.

I think most of our proceeds went to a charity of the pubs choice which keeps everybody sweet. Hopefully they’ll be happy to have us back in the future?

I lost count of the number of times the police drove past and somebody from the pub said there were even undercovers present. I’m not sure if there was any truth in this? It wouldn’t suprise me with the way the local ob have been acting lately.

lol, I had got you mixed up with someone else we both go raving with due to the short hair…

I hope so as that was a good night (how long did it go on until in the end?)

given the amount of gary’s I would expect black rats in both marked and unmarked units to be all over Stow anyway as a matter of routine just to stop these people driving like idiots, and if they were watching the pub it would be a additional minor task rather than a major op..

TBH I would suspect that the “undercovers” would be more likely to be MSDC (council) staff, checking for breaches of the smoking ban and underage drinking as there were clearly more people in there than normal.
