Just watched micheal moores film Sicko. Fuck me this film has made me proud to be British. It’s about US medical care or lack of it. The system over in America is fucking retarded and i would never ever live over there. I knew it was fucked up but never knew how bad. watch this film and remember be proud of the NHS, it ain’t perfect i know but jesus you’d miss it if it wasn’t there!!
I’ve got it on DVD mate.. its a cracking film..
Loved the bit in Cuba where they’re helping americans in their hospital… kinda ironic really..

Yeah it is a bit, I feel well sorry for Americans who need hospital treatment but can’t get it, specially the health insurance, one bird was refused cos she had a fucking yeast infection, thats really bad! As i said i really do feel for em, with a health system like that.
I read a very interesting journal about the methods of propaganda that Michael Moore utilises in Fahrenheit 9/11. It is well worth a Google if you’re interested in that kind of thing. It made me read up on a lot of the back stories in his other films and while I’ll admit that they are compelling viewing, raising provocative and undeniably salient points on a lot of current affairs issues I now take them all with a large pinch of salt. For films that are marketed as a factual documentaries he uses a fair amount of artistic license to get his point across.
yeah he’s abit of a dick if you ask me. puts just about as much spin on his films as the government puts on. Then he critises them for doing it.
TBH I think his stuff is actually aimed at fat Republican voting rednecks because he’s trying to convert them
virtually everyone else in the world is sensible enough to realise that at least a basic level of public provided health care (particularly for emergencies and minor chronic illnesses) is a good thing and worth paying taxes for!
Yeah its seems that someone has got their priorities very wrong, in a country which is so rich and eveyones got loads of rideculous consumer goods and crap that they dont need and is probably bad for them in some cases, but at the same time they dont have the most basic things like healthcare. Its upside down.
Yeah man they have got it very wrong. Bit of a shit American Dream! Come to America and be all that you can be, just don’t get sick though cos then your fucked! :you_crazy
TBH I kinda feel the doctors should be doing something about it over there too – I know everyone needs to make money to live, but isn’t it one of the oaths a doctor makes that they won’t refuse treatment where it’s needed? (pretty sure the oath says somewhere that they will treat the sick to the best of their ability and judgement – doesn’t mention their financial status at all).
Not saying the government in the US doesn’t have a responsibility too, but if all the doctors insisted that basic treatment for all had to be a part of their duties, the government would have to follow…
I reckon it must be frustrating for US doctors over who they can and can’t treat. But it always comes back to what people are entitled to through their insurance. sad situation really 😉
