In brief: Russell Crowe may play Bill Hicks | Film | guardian.co.uk
Russell Crowe as Comedian Bill Hicks Screenhead
Apparently the late, great Bill Hicks is to be further immortalised in a movie of his life. About time too really… but… Russell Crowe??! WTF? Too old, too shit, too wooden. It’s an insult imo, they need someone intense and talented. I think Christian Bale would do a fantastic job.
Indeed. Seems a bit of a poor choice really. Russell Crowe does “moody” well, but that’s about it.
Not sure – Bill was the dark prophet, so moody may not be a problem… And Russell Crowe is a good actor – no question IMO (for my money, it was his performance that made Gladiator the superb film it is – anyone who can pull off that role the way he did has talent).
The only question really is wether he can do comedy, which is far more exacting than straight roles… You often see good comedians making excellent drama actors, but it doesn’t always work the other way round.
sounds shit. why watch a aussie actor pretend to be Hicks? Just buy Hick’s dvds (or audio cd as i do) and watch what he’s good at. It wasnt his life that made him a genius he was his opinions, and yea it was sad and tragic that he’s gone but why the fuck has everything got to be a film? You know hollywood is just going to highlight the drugs and drink and then end it with his death.
That’s not what he would of wanted.
