    YouTube – Fatherland – Part 1

I think i’ve read the book, and its v good. Highly recommended!… and i’ve seen this film and it pretty good too

The Man in the High Castle by Philip k Dick is another excellent book in a similiar vein. Also SS-GB by Len Dieghton is good…

Things certainly could of been different, and it wouldn’t have taken that much. If D-day had failed, if the Germans hadn’t declared war on the US after Pearl Harbour, if Hitler had allowed the constuction of heavy bombers, if they had put diesel engines in the Panzers etc, etc.

watched one called ‘high hitler’ the other week and his amphetamine addiction had alot to do with his irational decisions.

i’m sure i read somewhere that during the early stages of d-day, no-one dared to wake Hitler, so the germans took ages to really respond to the invasion. I think they had panzers close to the beaches, but they took too long to engage. I suppose the speed thing wud have made him even more scarey, if woken early…

    Waking a murderous meglomaniac on a comedown! not a pleasant job, i guess… 😉

Its strange to think that his incompetence did as much to stop the germans, as we did. there was another thing i heard about the first winter in Russia, apparently Hitler refused to issue winter clothing, and many thousands of the germans froze to death…

Of course, Churchill was pissed half the time, but i’m not sure if he took speed. i’m guessin that he did…

ive always kinda ignored all of this, enough misery in the world without digging up old issues but it does look interesting

well, maybe things like ‘Fatherland’ remind us to appreciate the freedoms we do have.

as Bob Marley once wrote ‘If u know ur history…’

the 22nd panzer was the closest, ss panzer ‘das riech was in the south of france and there was a third to the north but i cant remember. rommel and jodel who were in charge of france had argued over which strategey to use come the invasion of normandy which they knew was inevitable. ether a strong defencive role on the beach favored by jodel or a counter atack once landed favored by rommel so the divisons were not set to any footing and set as reserves. by the time hitler was woken (yes they did let him sleep late as he’d been up all night) both strategys were useless. The worst part was that hitler thought normandy was a ruse and thought the main attack would come at the pass de cales and only comited 1 of the three available divisions in that area. by the time he realised that normandy was the main and only landing it was all too late and they had lost the key city of canie. i think there was a hitler youth panzer ss division in the area as well but that might of come up later?

churchill was just on the booze and drank from waking up till going to bed but tryed to hide it, he aparently wasnt a pleasant man. its strange how hes credited with winning ww2 as every other military escapade prior to ww2 was a disaster in fact galipoli was one of the worst military fiascos win world military history and that was his idea. he did manage to escape from a boar pow camp in the boar war but it was one of his balls ups that got him in there in the first place.

another notable ww2 junkey was goring who was a codiene and mathadone junkey but that was only coz there was very little morphine in germany during ww2 coz britain had the opium fields.
