TBH this sounds more like some teenagers half-term gathering what has got blown out of all proportion, but even so it would be absolutely fucking stupid for anyone to attempt such a event in this town – any “possible” buildings in that area (and the location) would be genuinely dangerous,
That said, I know if I was 17 again I would be curious – and probably have even tried such a stunt myself – but the stakes are a lot higher than they were 10 or 20 years ago.
Two friends of mine have only just finished prison sentences for their involvement in the party scene, just because people are younger won’t mean the feds will be any more lenient (if anything they are harsher on teenagers these days, if not with sentences with paperwork and labelling someone as a criminal for life at a very early age..)
The buildings in that area are too far gone now anyway to be safe for a party gathering – most can be found on the urbex site and even the explorers found them treacherous.
Hopefully this is just the cops going through bebo and facebook and picking up on rumours rather than anyone seriously trying this stunt!
Officers are concerned the unlicensed music event will take place in an unlit and derelict building next to the docks and the inherent dangers that this, coupled with alcohol, poses.
Licensed premises in the area have been visited and have been asked to be extra vigilant, reporting any incidents of underage revellers attempting to buy alcohol.
Acting chief inspector Matt Dee, acting district commander for Ipswich, said: “Parents are asked to make enquiries with their children as to where they are going this weekend and to discourage them from attending this event.
The person organising it was a complete joke anyway one of those ghetto talking c*nts.
christ on a mountain bike, that Superintendent looks younger than me – or maybe the same age but defo not older…
PS: to Suffolk Constabulary and Anglia TV (we know you lurk here )
Whatever the cool black dude might say on screen (and no disrespect to the man as I like some of urban music as well) – URBAN “raves” are not the same music or crowd as the sort of raves we chat about on here (legal or otherwise)
at Urban events they play grime, RnB and garage there, the events are slightly skewed towards attracting large groups of “IC3 males” as you lot say and sadly they are also prone to gang activity and violence (as proven after what happened in Zest), and although they may look on the outset multicultural there is an undercurrent of racial tension (due to competition over girls and differing cultural attitudes amongst young men) as well as the risk of gang activity. I’m sure your friends at Scotland Yard have briefed you on what can go wrong there, but please do not confuse traditional raves with urban events…
A traditional RAVE will have faster genres of electronic dance music, a similar young crowd but is a much more friendly, genuinely multicultural affair – trouble is comparatively rare and people go as groups of friends rather than crews or gangs (other than the “crew” providing the sound system which is simply a group of friends into music and not involved in serious crime). The use of the more dangerous class A drugs (crack, heroin etc) is actually strongly discouraged amongst the peer groups involved with these sorts of raves…
Feel free to pass the above on to your Forward Intelligence Units, it might save everyone a lot of hassle in the long run….
I live in Ipswich, I don’t want to see people getting hurt, whether they are ravers or cops, I don’t want to see my friends getting pointlessly sent to jail at thousands of pounds of taxpayers expense because everyone was stubborn, and I don’t want to pay for the aftermath of stupidity in my council tax (I am an adult in a professional job who has a house and mortgage and all the associated bills)
Its better people work together to keep everyone safe but have fun. A well run rave in a decent venue (like one of the events actually featured on the Anglia report by the Superintendent) causes virtually no hassle to this town and is providing valuable income to a community venue…
I’ve found the news report from a few years back – this is one reason why raves are locked down in Ipswich.
(the incident happened on 2001-10-27/28)
I am not sure if the warehouse in which the rave was held is still standing, but all of them back on to the Gipping and there are no fences on the riverbank…

I’m not in favour of warehouse parties in Urban areas tbh. Admitadly, I’ve only been to a few but they seem to attract a dodgy crowd who might normally attend urban nights and wouldn’t think twice in battering somebody for bumping into them.
Every London party report I read on sj or hear from mates always involves violence :you_crazy
Just this weekend, a load of Gypsies turned up at a psy-party, battered the security and attemped to steal the sounds system
Oh, I didn’t understand what you meant by ‘IC3’ GL so I looked it up and came across this…
IC1: White European
IC2: Dark European
IC3: African Caribbean
IC4: Asian
IC5: Oriental
IC6: Arab
IC7: Radio DJs who are IC1, but trying desperately to be IC3-er
IC8: Musical celebrities born IC3 but are now IC1, except paler
IC9: Ali G (IC 1-8 added together)
